"Pros Hotel was clean Air con was a godsend Food was OK Close to the beach Pool slides Cons Far away from anything, so was quiet boring Entertainment was all in spainsh don't cater to the English at all The lifeguards decided who could go down slides 4 spainsh kids at once yeah not a problem 2 English girls no not allowed Someone had a code brown twice in the pool during our stay, so that meant the pool closed, which wasn't good in 31-degree heat Even though there was nothing much in the area, everything closes down 2-5 Restaurants don't open till 8 or 9 at night and there wasn't much choice also no shop on site which was a bit of a nightmare All in all the weather was beautiful the sunset on the beach at night was beautiful but everything else was lacking would definitely not return"

"We had a beautiful and very spacious room with a garden view. The photos on the website are accurate. Comfortable, large beds, plenty of closet space, a big balcony, and blackout blinds for a good night’s sleep. It felt luxurious. Breakfast was varied and fresh – fruit, different breads, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, croissants, and great coffee (Nespresso or from a pot). We looked forward to it every morning. The hotel is in a quiet area, not too touristy, with a charming little harbor and beach nearby. If you walk around the harbor, you’ll find authentic bars, restaurants, and small shops. There's also a small tourist train if you prefer not to walk. The garden and pool area are peaceful and beautifully maintained. It’s quieter during the week than on weekends. We also did a day trip by car through the Sierra Nevada and visited Motril and Granada. Highly recommend the 50-minute massage – very relaxing and professional."

"I stayed one night here to meet a local friend. I got to my room for leaving my bag and my friend went with me, cause we planned to eat in the hotel restaurant together. But when arriving to the room the phone rang immediately, it was the lady at the front desk. She was very rude and asked my friend to leave right away. That it was threir policy with no guests at the room. This has never happend me before, and I find it very strange to not even be visiting the room for a hotel guest. We went down to the reception, and tve lady was continue to be rude to us. So we went to another restaurant for sure! Never going back here…."

AR Almerimar ★★★★
"If you're English I suggest you give this place the widest birth possible. The animation team have been extremely rude to my autistic daughter who's only.just turned 5. She tried so incredibly hard to join in with the mini disco although absolutely everything is in Spanish. Zero English translations and told her to go away to mama and being.bullied by the Spanish kids for not understanding how to play the games. The entertainment is the poorest excuse I've ever seen. Men running round covering their privates with sombreros, cheap, tacky foul entertainment in front of young children. Then proceeded to run around with paper airplanes screaming for an hour. Not one person laughed. Unable to join in with the activities for the kids through the day again because it's all exclusively for Spanish We paid for all inclusive yet the food is extremely poor and I have quite honestly lost two stone being here because all I could stomach were chips and fruit which was also incredibly dry and old. The bar staff are the only ones who can just about understand English and have been kind to us, however the guests here are even worse. I went to the bar during.the day to get a drink and.was called an English 'puta' (look it up, its a foul word.) Thinking.i didn't understand. So between the staff and guests I don't know which are more ****** and unwelcoming.toward English guests. Everywhere I walked I was looked up and down and dirty looked by the Spanish guests and the staff besides at the bar actively avoided serving.us so we were constantly left with no drinks during.breakfast lunch and dinner, the soft drinks are poured from a plastic bottle left on the side to go flat and warm while the staff walk round with fresh cold glass bottles, the snack bar only consists of hamburgers and some slimey sandwich kind of thing that look as though they've been sat there for a week, the food was more depressed than I was being here. There's no ice cream available until dinner time which is kept in a tray melted. If you want any other ice cream through the day you have to pay, they turn the slide jets off from 2pm til 4pm so the kids who aren't sleeping can't use them or burn themselves on it, there's no air con anywhere except in your rooms which is also incredibly poor. The rooms are dated with cracked tiles and chipped/warping wood everywhere, a swinging bathroom door that whacks you on the way in and out, the closest shops are a good ten minute walk away with absolutely barely anything to do except eat, there are no smoking signs absolutely everywhere yet the staff walk past you everywhere evidently smoking and throwing their ends on the floors, there's no life guard at the children's pool, flies absolutely everywhere constantly landing.on you, im honestly utterly disgusted and will be making a massive complaint.to the holiday company who advertised this as remotely acceptable for English tourists, I can tell you hand on heart you will feel most unwelcome. Its the worst hol"

Hotel AR Golf Almerimar ★★★★★
"This might seem like its going to be a negative review that’s what we thought after the first 48 hours but then we learned how the hotel functions and our opinions changed. Firstly, the hotel would not be open this time of year if it was not for organised golf parties, and we estimated that over 90% of guests were there in that capacity. It’s not surprising therefore that the hotels priority guests are the golfers. We were one of the few people there just as a couple so we are not the ones making this place successful therefore not a priority. We discovered this on the first night at the restaurant, all the tables outside are taken by the golf parties and the tables inside are set for parties of 10. There were just four tables set for four and often three of those would have reserved for golfers only notices. The first two nights we asked staff were can we sit? He promptly removed one of the reserved signs and said sit there. After those first nights we just took it upon ourselves to remove “reserved for golfers” ourselves and take one of the tables. I did mention this to the reception who said they would tell the restaurant to keep us a table but nothing changed. Having two hundred golfers all dining at once makes it very noisy and when they all come up to get food from the buffet very crowded. At breakfast things are different but still prioritise golfers, because they are teeing off from 8.00 AM if you arrive about 8.45 most have left. The staff are already setting the tables for the evening meal and even though breakfast is served until 10.30 most mornings we had to set our own table. Do not arrive after 9.15 because they have stopped cooking fresh eggs and bacon what is left has been under the heat lamps for 20 minutes. So that is the end of the negatives once we accepted that without golfers the hotel would be shut like pretty much every other one was in Almerimar and we learned to work around them at meal times there was a lot of plus points. The rooms are very modern and spacious it had one of the best hotel showers I have come across. Try to get a room that over looks the gardens and swimming pool ours over looked the carpark the loading bay and the main road so was quite noisy but we hadn’t paid for an upgraded room so that was the low end of the cost scale. We had no hot water in our room on arrival but once reported it was fixed promptly. This time of year there is only entertainment on Friday and Saturday night but the singers on Saturday were excellent. The hotel has a 27-hole golf course with decent practice facilities. The town of Almerimar is very quiet in October which suited us but if you want more to do this would not be for you. Outside the hotel they bill themselves on the sign as five stars Jet 2 have it four star which I would agree with. In summary if you are coming here as part of a golf society, I think you will have a great time if coming as a couple be prepared to know you are not the priority but you can make it"
