Hotel Doña Isabel

We made a reservation for next year on a pay at property when we arrive option. They took the money straight away and now refusing to refund. It was free to cancel up to 2 days before we were due to arrive. The hotel are now not responding to any messages I send. I have reported them to site I booked through but still no refund. Total scam, avoid!

Diabolical hotel so outdated, not rustic at all. Staff don't smile. When we went to our room there was no air, it was stale & smelt of cigarettes. When I complained, we were refused a refund & told to use air freshner! It was so bad we paid to stay elsewhere for the night

We’ve stayed here a couple of times and never had any issues, like other reviews state. If you do things right at your end there’s never a problem. The price is “ you get what you pay for”, with a clean standard room with en-suite facilities, soap bar, shampoos etc. We have eaten in the on site restaurant, which is ok, however their tapas selection at the bar is fabulous! There are many bars and restaurants within walking distance ( unlike what one review stated, where they said they’re none!) Another plus is the fact that the bus shuttle to the airport is directly opposite the hotel, and runs once an hour and costs 1.55€ per person! All in all a good recommendation for that early morning flight home!

This was a quick overnight very close to Alicante airport for a morning flight. The rooms are small and not stylish as we may be used to however it’s typical Spanish and we loved the experience. The staff were friendly, one on reception spoke English, if you speak slowly your understood and their English is 100% better than my Spanish! Clean hotel, excellent food and wine and they definitely took care of us but not intrusively. Private off road parking to the back so once you check in you’ll pay a small fee for the parking and they’ll direct you to a secure area behind the hotel. Very, very helpful and I found it you use your phone translator to at least try your hand at Spanish, they’re very welcoming.

On arrival at this hotel I did not have the credit card from which payment had been made. I would not see this as an issue as the payment had already been taken from the account. The receptionist advised it was due to security as he needed to confirm my identity. The receptionist refused to accept that my passport with which I had just passed through two international airports was proof of identity. I was advised that the only way to access our room was to repay with a card I did have on my person, and the original payment would be refunded. I did this as it was now past midnight and we had no other options. Having waited a week with no refund made, I contacted the hotel via your App. I have now sent them 3 messages, all have gone unresponded. Prior to my arrival they responded to messages within 12 hours. I note from other reviews of this hotel they have a history of withholding payments from customers who cancelled within the free cancellation period. Please beware if considering staying here.

Hotel was clean and tidy. Food was OK. That's where it ends. The staff were rude. Actually every one in any of the shops near by were rude. As soon as they heard the accent they weren't interested. There were not many bars or shops in the area. Luckily we were just staying for a night to move on to our villa. Do not go here if you want to enjoy yourself.
