Misty Hills Ella Resort

Absolutely amazing place to stay clean comfortable rooms staff couldn't do enough for you and really polite we have traveled alot probably the best hotel we have stayed in

Keeping in mind this is a 3 star hotel, the positives are the rooms are big with a balcony looking out at amazing views (ours anyway), and the pool is clean and quite big also with amazing views and a concrete elephant water feature!!! The location of the hotel is pretty good too - far enough from other properties to be quiet but close enough to Ella main drag that you can walk in 10-15 minutes or pay a tuk tuk driver double the rate of Colombo to get to and from. The big negative for us was that despite being told upon checking in that the room would be cleaned every day, it was not. And I was told the reason why was that we didn’t hand in our key for it to be done - which seems bizarre after staying in hotels for decades and not being told to or having to hand in a key in order to get a standard daily room clean. The insinuation that it was our fault for not handing in a key (not that we were told to do so on checking in) was extremely irritating. Food was ok but overpriced so we ate elsewhere (lots of options). There were lots of little things in the rooms that could be easily addressed to make them nicer - definitely not having ripped old bath towels, and removing an empty TV bracket from the wall (like a TV used to be there but not anymore - or was it just our room, who knows). All these little things add up to I really think the room rate is too high - but we are here in the high season so maybe that’s just the going rate.

Misty hills has the potential to be a great hotel and has wonderful views of Ella hill from reception. However our room was rundown and looked out over a large roof partially covered with a black tarpaulin. This meant that our view was severely impacted and we were incredibly relieved we were only staying one night. Another unfortunate consequence of this roof area was that when it rained heavily overnight we were woken by discordant loud dripping from the spouting. The staff were friendly and kind but we cannot recommend this as a place to stay. It is run down and dingy and does not remotely compare to other 4 star establishments we encountered on our trip.

This is an inoffensive hotel set in the hills below Ella with a stunning view over the mountains. Our room was big and spacious with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The hotel pool is excellent but can get quite busy. The hotel gave the vibe of being unfinished. The lift broke during our stay and we had to literally climb down the side of the building because there were no stairs. Our shower did not get hot water and the WiFi didn't reach our room. Even so, we had an enjoyable stay.

I am extremely disappointed by the receptionist 's rude and & unprofessional behavior.When a client asked to repeat something they didn 't catch, that reception lady " Medhani "dismissively stated she only says things one time.Customers deserve basic respect ,not this kind og cheap behavior.Management needs to address this properly.

The view - just wow. After driving through Elle, we hit a couple of really tight hairpin corners, the last of which dropped us at the foot of Misty Hills, a hotel perched on a rocky corner. We were warmly met on arrival by the lovely staff and offered a cooling towel and a refreshing juice. Check in was easy and before we knew it we had been escorted to our room and then wow again as we looked over the whole valley from our window.  The room was quaint with a comfortable queen bed and tidy bathroom - all very clean and tidy. We booked a double deluxe room with Balcony which included daily breakfast.  The pool was a refreshing way to cool down and relax and that view was there again. The staff were exceptional, extremely helpful and attentive and always with a lovely smile - this place was genuine both in the old creaky and soulful building that has evolved on the rock face and its wonderful staff - I definitely recommend this hotel and we will certainly be returning to Misty Hills when we next visit Ella.
