I rarely write reviews this negative, but this property really needs a major overhaul. The entire hotel feels extremely outdated and poorly maintained. The lobby was dark with torn carpeting and an overall run-down appearance. Honestly, when I first pulled into the parking lot, I thought the hotel might actually be closed because there were virtually no cars there. Even after returning from our track meet later that evening, there were probably fewer than 10 cars in the lot — the place felt completely desolate. Unfortunately, the room was no better. Everything felt old and in desperate need of upgrades, especially the bed, which was very uncomfortable. There was also a slight musty smell throughout the room that added to the gloomy feel. The fitness room was barely worthy of the name — just a tiny room with a few very old pieces of equipment. The indoor pool area appears to have been closed for years, with the windows totally covered over, which only added to the abandoned atmosphere. Breakfast was borderline awful. The only hot option was a waffle maker, and the rest of the food looked far from fresh. The one positive — and the reason I’m giving an extra star — is that the housekeeping staff clearly did a very good job. Despite the age and condition of the property, the room itself was very clean. I booked this hotel because we were in Emmitsburg for a track meet and usually stay in Gettysburg. This happened to show availability during my search, and I made the mistake of booking without reading reviews first — that’s on me. Now I understand why it had availability. Next time, I’ll absolutely drive the extra few minutes and stay in Gettysburg instead.

Unlawfully charged an additional rate for arriving at 1:30pm even though the hotel was a ghost town and room was ready. Bedding was stained and ripped and I plucked live ants from a first floor hotel room bed. Key was deactivated at 8am on check out day and was locked out after breakfast, we only stayed one night. We were given a new room but was scolded at check out that the bedding wasn’t that bad, the stains were mostly on the top sheets. I was told they would refund the extra charge after I argued there was no signage to indicate it was a policy. I never received a receipt and I was in fact over billed. I am a Choice Member and booked under the member rate. I opened a Choice Hotel dispute as well as one with my credit card. Drive 15min and stay in Gettysburg

Everyone was helpful and pleasant. However, we picked the hotel because of the indoor pool. When we checked in there was a sign it was not open because of mechanical issues. I hoped it would be open the next day but was told it would not be open for a long time. I understand it was not in service for a long time. It should not be advertised as having the pool. It was also in the book of services the hotel had that is in each room. The breakfast was the simplest I have seen. We would not have stayed if we knew there was no pool because that is what we wanted for our trip.

The room was nice, the pool was closed, looks like it has been for awhile now. The workout room was very small. The equipment was old also. The breakfast wasn't anything great. Just cold food items. Very minimal. Staff was friendly. But with that said, very reasonable price to stay.

As the only hotel near Mount St Mary’s University, this was a convenient option for a night or two, but it is definitely a last resort. It is expensive for such a low quality hotel. It was clean and functional, but not a place I would choose. I have stayed twice? But only because of necessity and proximity.

Stayed here for location, but should’ve driven the extra 10-15 minutes to say somewhere else. I’m sure there are hotels that look and feel dirtier than this one out there… but hopefully not many.. Best kept part of the hotel is the exterior. Needs complete renovation.

Mount alumna here. Glad there’s a hotel in Emmitsburg when I visit the Grotto and Seton Shrine. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Also quiet. Breakfast offerings met our needs for a meal before heading out. The pool is not open. Neither is the gym

Room was comfortable and I had a good night's sleep, but our room clenliness was lacking. The AC was broken and soaking the carpet, so the room smelled pretty bad. There was also a dirty sock behind a chair. Maybe we could've switched rooms, but since I booked 3rd party I didn't bother. Very overpriced rooms considering the remote location. Much cheaper to drive 10 minutes to another hotel nearby. Additionally, the pool was still closed as of my visit.

Unassuming hotel off the highway. We had a 2 full bed suite on 3rd floor. Attending granddaughters grad from Mount St. Marys. Sleep sofa, easy chair, small table w 2 chairs and a desk chair. Had lots of company and plenty of room to visit, relax, eat pizza. Clean, nice shower w lots of hot water. Will stay again. Front desk staff excellent!
