Even with the sound-insulating double-glazed windows, closing them brings in a musty smell, forcing you to open them again. The Moroccan breakfast was good, and the staff were very friendly. They only provide small bars of soap and no shampoo in the bathroom. The room is spacious and has a small flat-screen TV. It's best to ask for a higher floor, and if possible, a quieter room."

"Thank you to our host Ahmed, who has created a wonderful place very close to Essaouira and who provided us with excellent service. Dar Aymane is a little paradise from which you can easily reach the most beautiful beaches and kitesurfing spots. Thanks also to Omaima, who gave us a very warm welcome and made our stay truly enjoyable (as did the rest of the staff!). The guesthouse is 15 minutes from Sidi-Kaouki, and the same for Essaouira; it's a quick trip, and we appreciated the peace and quiet after visiting the Medina. We will definitely return and highly recommend it! Thank you, Ahmed! P.S.: Be careful not to pay attention to the negative reviews from Moroccans, as they are from competitors and have clearly lied."

"The riad's location is ideal, in the Medina, a 7-minute walk from the nearest parking lot. The interior is pleasant; I stayed in the Berkana room. The only amenities I missed were at least water in the room upon arrival. There's no kettle or refrigerator. The humidity is too high for me, and there's no air conditioning to dehumidify the room. The breakfast is very basic: baked goods, tea, coffee, and a glass of orange juice. I would have liked at least a boiled egg, if not scrambled eggs. The staff is attentive and helpful. The bed linens are crisp white, and the beds are comfortable. Overall, it looks nice, but it lacks coziness. The bathroom exhaust fan didn't work, so all the moisture from my shower ended up in the room. It's also not very pleasant to see other people's black hair in the shower."

"Best avoided (read till the end). The owner, Mr. Phillipe, doesn't seem interested in running Riad Emotion in a manner that comes across as warm or hospitable to his guests. First thing first, if you do decide to stay here, make sure you have your own towel(s). The towels and bathrobes that we were provided with in the bathroom were completely run down with threads swaying in the air at the edges; more brown from overuse than their original color, white. Breakfast is fine and the women who make breakfast do a good job at it and are perhaps the only ones who are seemingly warm and nice. But, more than anything else, the reason this place is best avoided is because Mr. Phillipe seems to consider guest relations as simply an impersonal business transaction. And, I say this not loosely. But, from a bad experience there. My wife and I stayed for two nights, and unfortunately forgot one of our jackets there. We reached Marrakesh and realized it only while unpacking our stuff. But, we didn't know where we had forgotten the jacket. In the rental car? At restaurants where we ate at in Essaouira? A bench? At Riad Emotion? So, we began calling places, and after calling all the outdoor places, we decided to call Riad Emotion. We were presuming that if we had left it at Riad Emotion then they would obviously call us. Mr. Phillipe is a Frenchman, and to be sure his first language is not English. That's totally fine, of course. But, it's not that he doesn't speak English. We don't know French or Arabic but we had spoken with him in English while staying at Riad Emotion. However, as is sadly common, the first thing that he said when we called to inquire about the jacket was that 'he doesn't speak English.' We pressed on, so he didn't just bang the phone down. And, lo and behold, he carried-on the conversation in English after we said 'hold-on, we just stayed with you, and are calling for something specific.' Nearly two days had passed since we had realized that our jacket was missing. But, to our surprise, upon inquiring about it with Mr. Phillipe, he simply said, "yes, we got your jacket from your room." What?? If you found our jacket from our room, then couldn't you drop us a text, call, or send across an email - our contacts were noted after all when we checked-in. But, here's the kicker. Mr. Phillipe went on to say that if we need our jacket in Marrakesh, it would cost us 700 Dirhams (~70 Euros) as he would have to pay someone. Really? Moroccans that we spoke to in Marrakesh regarding this had their jaws drop at hearing that Mr. Phillipe was asking us to cough up 70 Euros to somehow get us our jacket. No one said it should cost more than 30 Euros at best. We finally worked with someone at the Riad in Marrakesh we were staying at, and who was super helpful to have the jacket picked up from Riad Emotion and delivered to Marrakesh the very next day - all for a token amount compared to what Mr. Phillipe was demanding. "The hotel is very tired. It needs renovation. The furniture is shabby everywhere. All the water from the shower flowed directly into the hallway of the room. The toilet is located so close to the wall that you had to sit on it from the side.))) When booking, they repeatedly emphasized the need for two separate beds. We were given a room with one large bed. We went to the front desk to sort things out. The employee said that she didn’t have any rooms, only on the first floor, and that she would immediately send an employee to separate the two beds. Half an hour later, no one answered. Fifteen minutes later, I called the front desk to ask where the employee was, to which I was told that they should already be with us. I said no one was there. The employee replied that she would send one right away. After another 15 minutes, having received no one, I called again. To which I was told, “Do you really want this done for you now!?” And only after that, with a sour look on their face, did the employees come to change the beds and replace the large mattress with two single ones. Slippers and robes also took a very long time to arrive. The breakfasts were terrible."

The service is really bad, The security guards are the worse and even the manger is not kind at all. I mean im spending real amounts of money in there and not getting a good treatment. this is really not acceptable because i invited some of my friends who are really important in their countries to come and visit Essaouira but the treatment they recieve on this nightclub was something they have never experienced in their lifes. Please look into this… most importantly The security guards and the manager. "The room is beautiful. Huge tub. Fireplace in the room which they lit for us. Comfortable bed. Some street noise. Breakfast was good. Area around the hotel is not nice. A lot of trash on the ground. It is about 4 to 5 minute walk to more occupied area of the Medina. So at night you are going through some deserted trash filled paths. The plus side is you are right next to a big parking area. So if you are driving in it takes about 2 minutes to get from your car to the hotel. They seem to be understaffed in the morning so you have to carry your own luggage down multiple flights of stairs if you are checking out in the morning. Not much common area if it is raining you are pretty much stuck in your room."

"This high class Riad is perfectly situated close to the beach, the bustling port and the Medina. Although a little cramped in the public areas, our suite was enormous, on three levels and tastefully decorated. We did have to go through a small kitchen to get to our door, but that was never a problem. We took our breakfast in our suite, which we enjoyed. The staff were always pleasant and very helpful, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The Riad is also above their truly magnificent restaurant, although I'll talk about that wonderful experience in another post!"
