We stayed one night to visit the local Medieval Christmas market. This is a small traditional hotel, lots of dark wood in the public areas, and we had a clean basic room, quiet, with a small elvator suitable for taking up luggage. (Still a few stairs, if that is an issue.) We requested parking, and got a spot right behind the hotel--very handy. We loved the location, as it was immediately adjacent the old town, and the Christmas markets. Esslingen market was probably our favourite in a 9-day trip, with lots of variety, traditional foods we didn't find elsewhere, and a great Medival section with games. There is also a shopping street right next to the hotel, and we had a wonderful kaffee und kuchen within sight of the hotel. I feel like Esslingen deserves more than the one day we gave it and I hope we return. Breakfast at the hotel was good, with quality offerings and sufficient variety in a nice room. As I was missing my own pets, I also absolutely loved the appearance of a s weet and calm resident dog around the front desk in the morning--these homey touches make small independent hotels special.

the hotel is situated at the border of the ancient town. The main station is 10 min walking, there's a parking garage 2 min away. The room, the sevice and the breakfast were satisfying. I'd recommend this hotel for a short stay.

The image of the building that the "Hotel am Schelztor" shows in its advertising is not the hotel itself but a (fake) half-timbered house in the surrounding area! ! - Booking at this hotel based on this image will be a disappointment.

Stayed for the 3rd time during Canstatter Volksfest. Once again a great stay with clean rooms and friendly employees. Hptel is very conveniently located in relation to public transport and it is easy to stroll around the city for a cup of coffee, a sandwich or a restaurant in the evening.

Das Hotel liegt strategisch günstig in der City. Zur Fußgängerzone und zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten ist man in wenigen Schritten. Das Hotel selber ist Altbau, die Inneneinrichtung ist aber wirklich in Ordnung und es gibt Fußbodenheizung! Das Zimmer hat auch eine ausreichende Größe, das Bett war sehr bequem. Trotzdem kann ich das Hotel nicht als sehr gut bewerten, denn über 100 €/ Nacht ist es nicht wert. Das macht wahrscheinlich die Nähe zu Stuttgart aus, mit dem Zug ist man in 15 Minuten dort am Hauptbahnhof. Das Hotel liegt nur gute fünf Gehminuten vom Bahnhof Esslingen entfernt. Die Damen an der Rezeption sind wirklich sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, leider sind sie auch für das Frühstück zuständig und das kann schon mal zu einer Zerreißprobe werden. Der Kaffee wird frischgebrüht, war aber etwas schwach auf der Brust. Belag ist in Ordnung, aber nicht überragend. Die Semmeln waren stets frisch und teilweise noch warm. Das Rührei mit dem Speck war hervorragend, da kann sich so manches Hotel eine Scheibe von abschneiden. Jeder muss aber selber wissen, ob es einem die 14 € Wert sind. Der Parkplatz im Hof ist etwas klein und eng, das sind aber natürlich die Gegebenheiten in einem Innenstadt-Hotel. Für einen Kuraufenthalt in Esslingen kann ich das Hotel uneingeschränktweiterempfehlen.

Hotel absolut zum Weiterempfehlen. Charmant altmodisch mit Plüsch und gediegener Vertäfelung aber alles top sauber, nichts abgestoßen. Moderne Fenster, die geöffnet werden können. Verkehrstechnisch kann ein Hotel in Esslingen nicht günstiger liegen. Tolle Restaurants und Eisdielen in weniger als 5 Minuten fußläufig erreichbar. Sahnehäubchen: Service und Personal - Extraklasse.

Freundlich. Sauber. Zentral. Wir kommen schon seit ein paar Jahren u. möchten auch nicht wechseln. Reichhaltiges Frühstück mit ausreichend Auswahl. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber mit einer Wasserauswahl zur Begrüßung auf dem Tisch. Wir fühlen uns jedes Jahr hier sehr wohl u. sehr gut bedient.
