If Tina Turner did resorts this would be 'Simply the Best'. I'd give it 6 green blobs if I could but 5 will have to do. This is our third trip to Andalusia and it just can't do any wrong. We've been to a number of Ikos hotels but this has to be our favourite. We arrived on opening day, in fact we were the first guests at the resort on 27th March. From the warm welcome by security (we arrived in our own car) to a line of staff waiting for us to roll up to reception - we couldn't have been more welcome. The whole resort feels like home, managed by people that feel like close friends rather than staff. Whilst I parked the car my wife was escorted to a table and the check-in process commenced. As usual a glass of champagne is suggested - and who would refuse - and we were drifted through the formalities. We were offered breakfast at 'flavors', which felt like private dining, as we were the only guests there. Breakfast done and off to the room. We were allowed access to the room very early on as it was the first day of opening so that was a nice touch. I managed to be the first person to swim in every pool this year which was a first for me - and quite amusing for the staff I'm sure. The resort is extremely well laid out and easy to navigate. From what we could tell there are no accessibility issues with sloping paths leading to every part of the resort. The pool areas are idyllic, and the plants/vegetation on site are beautifully maintained. Even the relatively new deluxe area looks as though it has always been there. Just a credit to the designers and builders at Ikos resorts. There's a lovely path that fronts the sea and this stretches south westward to Estepona or north eastward to Guadalmina. It's a good walk in a morning if you fancy a brisk hour or two. I could provide detail on each eatery in the resort but food is a personal preference, someone's caviar is someone else's fishy slime. Needless to say there is no shortage of choice from Italian to Thai, from Greek to Spanish. If the a-la-carte restaurants don't float your boat then there's always a good selection on offer at the buffet. What I have to mention though are the staff. My wife and I were humbled by the kindness, the generosity, the attention, and the overall caring attitude of the staff. They work like nothing else - always with a kind smile , a moment to ask you how you are, and a final 'can I get you something else?' I'm going to mention a few people - because it is impossible to spend what has been one of the best holidays for us in a long time. These people deserve our respect and our gratitude. We were treated like family, the staff didn't know us when we arrived but my goodness leaving them all was the hardest moment of the trip. Dionisis - service with a smile. He was the first person to meet us at the resort and made sure everything was perfect each and every time we saw him. Valerio - an engaging individual with an interest in everything.
