This is a lovely hotel. We stayed two nights. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and spacious with a huge bed which was comfortable but the pillows could have been better. There was a step up into a huge bathroom with separate bath & shower, which again was very clean. Breakfast was hearty and very enjoyable. The bar/restaurant, Treetops, was comfortable and staff were again very welcoming and helpful. The food here was superb. Interesting varied menu, cooked extremely well. Worth the visit alone. Would definitely come back just to eat here. The only thing I have to seriously criticise is how lacking this building is in accessibility. They're honest about having no lift, but there are random steps throughout, narrow corridors, and a very limited choice of accessible tables in the restaurant. There was a step up to the bathroom in our room, and many rooms had steps into them. It's quite common in older buildings and very unfortunate in an otherwise very good place to stay.
