We had a lovely meal with our friends. Great grub: the sausage and mash was excellent. The others enjoyed their choices. I did not pick the pie as my friend did, as it was not a real pie, but a casserole with a flaky pastry lid! But it was very tasty, he said! Lovely strawberry and ice cream pud - locally sourced both. Excellent bets, ciders, wines, guns etc. would go back!

What an amazing and quaint pub for a lunch stop before exploring the town. This is one of my top favorite meals ever! I had the fish and chips platter with peas and a fresh salad. The fish was crispy and light and the chips cooked perfectly. Salad with a variety of fresh vegetables. Would be enough for two to share for the large portions they give you. For dessert I ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was Incredible in taste and presentation. Service was wonderful and the pub was nice a cozy with a fire.

Great location, easy to get street parking. Found nearby spacious parking lot as an alternative. Quiet area, nice view but the dirty windows marred the view of the square (Outlander room). Accommodating with late check-in (the staff was working the bar). Nice bathroom. Easy to use TV for Netflix. Room was a little tight, couldn't open the door fully to get inside because it hit the bed. Bathroom towel rack may have been overheating the room, but we were able to figure out how to turn it off. Windows heavy to keep open for air. Great breakfast and dinner food came quickly. I had chicken and leek pie, sticky toffee pudding, and a passionfruit cocktail for dinner; pancakes with bacon for breakfast (breakfast included in the price). Limited staff was working the restaurant, bar, and lobby but still doing a good job. Server was unsure about menu items at dinner.

Check in was a little tense. No one on reception so asked one of the staff from the bar to check us in. Despite pre-paying in full, she insistent we were to pay an extra £86! Advised us that the rooms are expensive and we'd not paid enough. I said that was the price I was given, and showed receipt. This went on for 5 mins. In the end she asked if we wanted to speak to someone more senior, who advised someone hadn't wrote in the book we had already paid. Still was mortified. Driven 5hrs, tired and so embarrassed as I felt that I was being accused of underpaying.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel was exactly as I expected! Clean, good breakfast and we had a lot of fun at the bar!

The hotel had a lot of atmosphere, both inside and out. The restaurant and bar served substantial meals. At night, once the tour busses left, it was very quiet.

We walked past and the pub looked great, very busy. The service was not so great. The condiment bottles were all empty and I had to go and find new ones, no one was available to help. We had fish goujons and burgers. The fish was so thin, small and the goujons were mainly deep fried breadcrumbs. Rock hard and oily. The burgers seemed to have a mix of chorizo, paprika and some beef. We had to remove the rubber like fat from the bacon as we chewed. Back bacon is not the bacon for burgers. Not a beef burger and not good. The chips were really greasy and just tasted awful. All the sauces including the mayonnaise were some brand we had never heard of and were of the lowest quality. It was such a shame as it seems to be the only place to go to eat in the village and the menu is not difficult to make great. Pillars of Hercules 5 min up the road is the polar opposite.

Lovely village setting for quirky hotel I stayed in the Outlander room which is cosy as fairly small. Room was a bit too warm, would have liked a fan. The room is directly over the bar area so it was quite loud with music and voices til past 10 o clock, even on a Monday night. It is all street parking, which is fine if you arrive after 5pm as otherwise quite tricky to find a space with all the tourists. Staff were all very friendly.
