Hotel Rosa Mística by Umbral

Location: The hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance of major attractions like the Sanctuary of Fátima, the basilica esplanade, and nearby restaurants, making it ideal for tourists exploring the area.

We had one of the worst hotel experiences ever at Rosa Mistica in Fátima. Everything was prepaid, but when we arrived, the staff claimed that breakfast wasn’t included and demanded an extra €20 per person. We paid €140 in cash but they refused to provide a receipt, saying we’d get it “tomorrow.” The next day, when we asked again, they kept delaying and eventually became rude when we insisted on a receipt. When we checked out and left our bags at the reception to visit the church, the hotel suddenly demanded €50 for “luggage storage.” When we questioned the charge, they became aggressive and refused to give our breakfast receipt unless we paid the storage fee. After we refused, they called the police on us. Shockingly, the police sided with the hotel but even told us privately that this was a common scam targeting tourists. It didn’t end there — the hotel then claimed the room was “messy” and tried to charge another €50 for cleaning, even though we stayed for only half a day and had done nothing beyond leaving a few church candles on a table. This entire experience felt like a complete scam — from overcharging and refusing receipts to inventing fake fees. The staff were unprofessional and dishonest. Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of better, more honest accommodations in Fátima. Don’t fall into the same trap.
