The property is 5 minutes from Middleburg and Upperville, and 10 minutes to The Plains and Marshall. When you step through the front door, you are greeted by the original log cabin. There is a guest bedroom on the main floor with a full bath and a bathtub. A washer and dryer are also on the main floor. The kitchen has a coffee bar and all standard kitchen amenities. The kitchen also has access to the wrap around deck with stunning sunset views.Upstairs, you will find a warm and cozy family room with original hardwood floors, logs and beams. This room also includes a pull out queen size couch and a 55" smart TV. The primary bedroom has a king bed, incredible views to the west and the bathroom has a large walk-in shower with heated floor.Sit and relax on the brand new Trex deck and watch the beautiful sunsets. There are even some pigs, chickens and cows that live right down the road that you can greet during your relaxing stay.Please note that this property is rural; to access the schoolhouse, you will need to travel 1-4 miles (depending which direction you approach from) on dirt and gravel road. You will not have a problem accessing the property in any type of car in good weather (sans big snow storm), but we want guests to be fully aware of the rural nature of the property. This will add to the getaway charm with ample privacy and quiet -- and you can be wow'd by the many kiddos who had to walk those miles in all weather to get to school back in the 1800's! The property is well maintained, however, this is the countryside and there are insects and other critters. Use caution and discretion. Welcome to my home! This cottage was built in the 1820's in the historical town of Paris, Virginia! With lots of history and character this house still has some of the original exposed beams and hardwood flooring! If you enjoy the outdoors, wineries, breweries, and shopping this is a perfect location for your stay! Minutes from the Appalachian trail, Shenandoah River, Middleburg and Sky Meadows park there’s plenty of hiking around. Famous Ashby Inn restaurant is just a short walk away and many more amazing places!This is my personal home, so I do leave a few things in the home but out of your way. The Appalachian Trail crosses our road just 1 mile north, stellar Linden Vineyards is immediately adjacent, and scenic Shenandoah Valley is 15 minutes away.Dogs are allowed, up to two total per stay. We have cats on the property, so please monitor your dogs while outside.We welcome children of all ages. The cabin does not have toddler safety measures such as locks on low cabinets or outlet covers, but there is a portable crib provided.GUEST ACCESSYou’ll have access to our entire house except a locked garage. There is a barn on the property which is also locked. Otherwise, you'll have access to the rest of the property adjacent to the cabin. We live on the property, too, but are just over a ridge. Please make yourself at home!SOME VERY IMPORTANT NOTESDRIVEWAY: Our driveway is steep and graveled, and can be difficult for small passenger cars to get up especially during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. We recommend using a 4WD vehicle if possible. We are not responsible for you getting up the driveway, and will not provide refunds if you can’t make it up for any reason, including weather. The country is a wonderful place to relax, but it comes with some challenges, too. INTERNET: Our internet connection is slow. We estimate average speeds to be around 5 Mbps. Email and texting work fine, and Zoom works okay. Sending large files or streaming video may be difficult. TV: We do not have a television in the cabin.GUEST COUNT: No parties, and no additional guests beyond the (up to) 4 guests booked. Guests beyond the confirmed amount will be reported to VRBO (per our local restrictions).SECURITY: One outdoor security camera shows who is coming and going, but for your privacy, only the driveway and front door are visible – we can send you a picture from the camera if you'd like.NOISE: Our tiny valley is very sleepy and quiet. We purchased the farm house in 2017 and did a complete renovation of the old farm house with 2 private bedrooms and a den, 2 & 1/2 baths surrounded by 53 acres of breath taking land with tall trees, running steam and 2 beautiful ponds full of fish. Many trails, fishing (catch and release), boating, target shooting as well as bow & arrow. Seasonal hunting (dear, docks and geese) or many games available to keep you busy (corn hole, badminton, etc. ). There is a 4 seater golf cart to roam around the property. There is always something to do at the farm and when you done, just sit around the fire pits or the ponds and enjoy the beauties nature offers and forget about the outside noise.The spaceWe bought the farm early in 2017 when we fell in love with the farm and surrounding lands on the first look. The old farm house dated back to 1800. We tried to keep the old charm with the new when we renovated it from top to bottom in mid 2017. Surrounded by 53 acres of open land, trees, water and total privacy. There are 4 venues to hang out on the property. 2 Patios, one off the kitchen and one on the back porch next to the front entrance and 2 fire pits to sit around at nights. There is also a 1000 sq ft. pavilion looking over the pond with a catering kitchen for entertainment.Guest accessThere is over 50 acreage of beautiful land with 2 ponds surrounded by tall trees. There are much more acreage surrounding the farm that you can use for trails. It sleeps up to 4 adults or children. Please advise in advance you need additional sleeping quarters.Other things to noteYou’re in heaven if you like outdoor, barbecue, fishing, walking different trails, outdoor games, shooting targets, relax around the firepit or on one of the patios. There are always something you can find to do at the farm.In addition there are 6 adirondack chairs on the upper pond to enjoy an afternoon nap or feed the fishes. There is also a 6 person dome tent available to use on the upper shelf in the closet next to the front door.
