Booked for 2 nights, arrived on Sunday at 5 pm to find a private party going on. No welcome and was then told the restaurant was closed both nights I was there. Room exceedingly basic and grubby, no wardrobe, 4 different tiles in bathroom with items missing and black mould around the shower. No heating at all and very noisy, doors slamming, noise from adjacent rooms all too audible. Door to main building locked at 10.am so unable to leave key when I went out. Too close to the motorway. No wonder they wanted to be paid in full on arrival before I saw the room. A dump.

Chose this place as it was in a rural and quiet location however there was a private function that evening which did not finish until 1am and was noisy to the accommodation. The room was basic, no heating on the first night, lukewarm shower, no hairdryer and no basic tea/coffee making facilities, room not clean to standard. Not recommended and would not stay there again.

We booked this place last minute for a family of 5. We were able to get a room for all 5 of us which is rare. We were late arriving and the owners we're patently waiting for us which was very thoughtful of them. We didn't stay for breakfast as we wanted to get away early but we were shown a lovely breakfast area with complimentary tea and coffee. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a lovely shower room. It was very reasonably priced and it's pleasing to be staying in an independent local hotel rather than a chain.

A classic roadside motel but on a hill with a fab view down to Calais. The room was basic but clean and functional. The hard floors through the building conduct every sound so the place is very noisy . We had diner in the restaurant….mostly grilled stuff on their open bbq. My steak was fine and the local cheeses tasty. Prices are good for a stopover before travelling back to the UK.

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but things have changed since we stayed three years ago and there are things that you should know. On our previous visit we enjoyed an excellent pitchet of wine from the bar sitting outside overlooking the coast, and followed this with a delightful meal in the restaurant. Now there is no bar and no restaurant. This means that you either have to visit the shops in Guines as we did, or find a restaurant, which would limit any wine consumption. The situation of The Ferme de Grand Air is wonderful, and the security of cars in the enclosed courtyard is excellent. Our room had a large comfortable bed, though only one bedside light functioned. The shower head was almost unusable, though the water was warm, but the towels were so wet that they were unusable. The young lady who was so helpful on our arrival had disappeared so we used our own. Breakfast is available from 8am, not 7 as mentioned in the website, but you can use the kitchen to make coffee at any time. There are no facilities in your room, nor is there a coffee shop. There may be rooms with baths, but we haven’t seen one. As you can imagine we were very disappointed, as we had such an enjoyable experience previously. Alas no more.

Absolutely disgusting service. We booked 2 rooms here months ago for this weekend but have received an email this evening saying the bookings have been cancelled. How the hell are we supposed to find alternative accommodation at a similar price at such short notice! Be warned if you’re thinking of booking.

What can we say about this meal disaster, we arrived, there was confusion with customers who did not have their table reserved, waiting 20 minutes standing before seeing someone to seat us. At least 30 minutes later someone took our order for aperitifs and main courses, then once the aperitif was served, nothing more for 2 hours, we were not the only tables, some left having just had a drink... After 2 complaints the dishes arrived with great difficulty, the waitress bringing dishes which were ultimately not intended for us... Service completely overwhelmed, a manager not even stopping by to apologize or offer to offer a drink while waiting. We skipped dessert to reduce the suffering of the waiters and our own patience, it was after 4:30 p.m....and there the cashier manager offered no excuse for cashing us in without a word as if everything had been impeccable... A very bad experience on such a special “Mother’s Day” day.

We have not stayed there...but these owners gave us a wonderful welcome on a sweltering day, during closing time. Great class. The company is very quietly located and yet easily accessible. Rarely have we experienced such a warm welcome.
