Lovely location, looks great when you drive in. The positives first, the reception and restaurant are very nice and staff are friendly. However, that’s where it ends. The room I was in was in a “lodge”, they appear to be units fitted into a wooden lodge, they call them “stable” rooms. There were 3 single rooms in the lodge I was in. Now I feel I was very lucky because the one night I was there the other rooms were not booked but I can only imagine how noisy it would be if all rooms were occupied. That said, the unit inside was very clean, outside was awful, spiders webs all over the doors, window. I understand it’s out in the country but a brush down now and again would be beneficial. No wifi at all out of the main building, apparently a “recent” issue. Dogs everywhere, barking so again, nothing against dogs but irresponsible owners just letting them bark with no thought for other guests. Not somewhere I would return to.

This lovely setting, which is a joy to behold, has a dark secret or two. First, and it's still a secret, that after waiting 40 minutes for our food, the 'chef' came and apologised for the delay and warned of a further 20 minutes delay. That turned into 35 minutes. The secret is, why, when there were only 6 other people in the entire restaurant??? Worse still, the food was simply awful. There is no other way to describe it, or try to be kind to it. It was simply dreadful. We had dry, overcooked burgers that probably had never seen salt nor pepper, let alone any other herb, spice or flavouring to help it onto a plate. Bland, would be kind. The unfortunate roll in which it came, was a cheap supermarket version that stuck to the roof of your mouth. The 'hand cut' chips were not in the least crispy, but dry and tasted like cardboard. To accompany this disaster, was another! Red cabbage (only!) 'coleslaw' that had more vinegar than mayo. In 50 years of eating out, I can honestly state this was probably the worse meal I've ever had. I didn't pay for my meal and should not have paid for anything else either, but we were with friends and it was bad enough without making further, albeit well deserved fuss! Back in the 70's, Britain had a terrible reputation around the world for the quality of food available when eating out. It was like going back in time! NEVER again shall I visit this place!

Venue is very nice, clean and bright, Staff were great and appeared happy in their work. The food was poor - I had pre ordered the squid which was serves warm and the crispy batter was soft and had the appearance of being cooked on too low a temperature. This was follows by, again preordered Beef Bourguignon a dish that lacked the richness of the flavour of wine the beef had the appearance of being a roast that had been recycled. the meat was cut into cubes that had precise cube like shape and did not have the expected flavour of the dish. I would say the were plenty of small onions but not much else. I/we wont be going back which is a shame because the venue itself was great.

We found our room very dated and in need of some TLC. The window handle was broken and came apart when trying to open the window. The small pillows on the bed had stains on and floor near the sofa area was not clean. We had a poor night sleep with our neighbours making noise throughout the night. Quite a disappointing stay for the price paid. Would not stay again.

I have been to 2 wedding functions at this property the first was some years ago and again on 30 November 2024. The Farmhouse at Fincham has clearly had a refresh and hosted a fantastic wedding and subsequent reception in the function room upstairs. On checking in we were fortunate to be upgraded to a Lodge in the grounds (room 411) which was absolutely fantastic with a Lounge area, kitchen, bath with overhead shower and two double bedrooms one of which was en-suite. There was a ‘welcome pack’ with 4 bottles of water biscuits and snacks in the kitchen. The rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly cleaned with plenty of parking space. Breakfast was included in the price and was absolutely fantastic. The staff at the Farmhouse were superb from checking in to departure and the team should be extremely proud of the fine service they provided. A fantastic stay and I have no hesitation in recommending this superb property for an overnight stay and as a wedding venue.

Nice, quiet setting, staff welcoming on arrival. We felt our room was not a superior room, and did ask if we were in the right room. We only had a dining style chair, nowhere to to sit but the bed. The bed was a double, creaked and cracked with every movement, and not very comfortable, therefore we did not get much sleep. Pillows comfortable though. We couldn't get on the wifi at all, and some others we spoke to couldn't either. We were told it was all working OK. The plus sides - bathroom was well equipped, clean and tidy, plenty of toiletries in the shower, and lovely fuffy towels. Robes and slippers also in room.Lovely welcome tray with snacks, plenty of tea, coffee and 2 bottles of water, all replenished daily. Food was good and plentiful, bar well equipped also. All the staff were very friendly, and approachable, we were made to feel very welcome. We would like to mention Nathan and Millie, who were always helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for an enjoyable stay, despite no pie or chicken last night lol.

What a shame. A beautiful setting. Lovely and quiet. Restaurant the first night was “full of flies”. Couldn’t fault the staff or the food. But a HUGE fly problem. The car park lights in one area of the car park- completely ruined my nights sleep. Outside room 312- the large round bright white car park lights in the rooms 402 and 403 shone all night long- outside my window. Having just added a second night stay in the evening, at breakfast I told the manager. I explained all the other outside lights are smaller and yellow lights down lights etc, but these are straight into my bedroom window. By 8pm there was no answer no response . I went back into reception- no manager on duty, no maintenance, the lovely staff called and got told “the maintenance looked at it today as they’re for the car park they can’t turn them off and they’re all connected to one switch.” Surely the maintenance could have taken the build out, changed it for a yellow light or a dimmer light- sounds harsh but basically “tough luck”.
