Hotel Cosimo De' Medici

The hotel's location is excellent, close to both the train station and the central market. There are also great Chinese restaurants nearby (Dumpling King is a must-try!). The front desk staff were very helpful and stored our luggage for free for two days.

The air conditioning in the room blew directly onto the bed, which made me worried about getting sick. So, the next morning, I asked the rather aloof front desk attendant if I could switch rooms. First, I was told there were no family rooms available, so I said a double room would be fine. The aloof attendant then came to my room to check the situation I described and finally suggested I just turn off the AC at night. This was during a heatwave in Florence where it was 40 degrees Celsius (104 F) during the day… She then reluctantly agreed to move me to a double room. The overall experience was really bad; the whole time, the aloof attendant had a sour look on her face. The hotel's location, however, was decent.

This hotel's rooms look nothing like the pictures. It feels more like a guesthouse, the rooms are tiny, and the facilities are old. The front desk isn't 24-hour and it's located in a small courtyard, in a building shared by several hotels. Breakfast is extremely basic. The room Wi-Fi signal is terrible and frequently disconnects. I'm not sure if the building blocks signals, but my phone's data had no signal here, so I had to rely on their unreliable Wi-Fi, which kept cutting out – it was absolutely infuriating. Besides the good location, everything else was a letdown.
