Park Hotel

Reasonable hotel - beds ok (not great) with huge moulded head boards that make it impossible to sit up. Clean and good bathrooms. Food mostly mediocre with the occasional nice dish/dessert. Ski in/out works well. Sauna/steamroom/jacuzzi/pool a nice experience. Ungenerous offer - not welcoming; no welcome drink, no apres-ski cake, half-board but water 5E every meal. A bit petty. 80% Italian, 20% Polish but English spoken by all staff. Middle of nowhere-not possible to eat out, no bus after 5pm. Top tip - get up the mountain before 9:30, head up to Vigo and then into the Madonna valley where the queues are much less. Otherwise you are facing 25min queues with the ski schools. Folgarida is a bit of a bottleneck.

The bathroom had used sanitary towels in bin and used toiletries in shower. The room was not swept and there was severe black mould on the window frame in the bedroom. An electrical socket was dangerously falling out the wall. The corridor stank of cigarette smoke permanently and the first few nights guests were shouting in the corridor and buzzing repeatedly on the room door buzzers. Saturday is changeover day so none of the normal facilities were open in the morning such as the playroom and swimming pool. The dining room and bar area furniture was tired and some places filthy stained seats. The restaurant manager was amazing and super helpful and welcoming and friendly. His wife was also very kind and helpful in the spa. You have to pay for swimming caps in the pool. The pool water was murky. Reception staff were mostly unsympathetic and unhelpful and rude apart from one lady who treated us as individuals and was kind and helpful upon checking out. Breakfast choice was good although the coffee was not great which was surprising for it being Italy. One of the shuttle buses to the gondola was filthy and has greasy oil on the floor and the seats were grimey. Not a good representation for the hotel. The play room had young girls who were on their phones all day long and were merely there as a check for sign in sheet. Some poor kids who were dumped there all day everyday for over a week were quite traumatised by the lack of any adult or human attention. Disappointing as you would expect the staff to be engaging with the children and caring. Would not recommend this hotel until some significant staffing changes and an update and better cleaning but the Folgarida area and ski resort was lovely apart from this and we enjoyed our family holiday.
