Lovers Key Resort

We loved our stay at Lovers Key Resort. Our room was really clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The resort was quiet, the pool was beautiful, our view was lovely, the staff was efficient. We loved our free pass to Lovers Key State Park, and Flipper's was a fabulous restaurant.

This is an attractive and quiet property situated just over the bridge leaving the southern end of Estero Island. It about 15 minutes south of Ft Myers Beach. I rented a "High Floor Room." It was big, comfortable, and beautiful - a great view, and more like a small apartment than a hotel room. It had a fridge, stove, glasses and dishes, pans to cook in, and a Mr. Coffee machine with only decaf coffee. There was a veranda that you could walk out onto, catch some ocean breeze, but not smoking is permitted, even out there. The hotel is on the water, on the bay, not the open ocean. And there is NO BEACH at the hotel. There is a large swimming pool, and a sea wall but there is no practical way to swim in the ocean from the hotel. You would have to get into your car and drive to Ft. Myers Beach or Lover's Key Beach. It was listed in ******* as ocean-front, but it is actually bay-front, and only to look at, not to experience. The hotel has a good restaurant. The food is pricey but delicious. The restaurant is not open early for breakfast and it closes early in the evening. This is not a hotel for partying unless your party is private, quiet, and self-contained. There does not seem to be a lot to do for children at this hotel. It's kind of for older folk. No music, no dancing, and no action. A good place to hide away and rest for a couple of days.

It was very easy checking, the room was clean with a great view of inlet waterway, and the staff eas great. We will return again

Everything was good except for the couch in the living room. It's a sleeper couch that was uncomfortable.

We’ve come here for years (before the hurricane) And we loved it!! However… this time it wasn’t the same Lovers Key we remembered. We paid a “resort fee” and I honestly don’t know why, this is NOT a resort. Our room upon checking in was gross.. the bed looked like someone just took a nap, the blinds were broken, the sofa had stains.. yes, those kind of stains. We asked if we could move to a different room and apparently 1 of the 2 cleaning ladies were on vacation leaving only one other room free. (That is all they have cleaning this place?) The room we ended up being in was 10x better, updated, clean, and no stains. We stayed for days and no one ever came to clean our room or just bring fresh towels. Turns out after asking for fresh towels at the front desk, we also had to ask for our room to be cleaned (but I thought this was a resort??) The pool has “no smoking or vaping” signs, and “no glass” but people were STILL smoking and drinking beer out of glass bottles! No one cleaned around the pool like in the past.. towels sat there for days on pool loungers. The place is still being worked on, so we heard tiles being cut, and construction above us. They really need a new management company. This saddens me to say but I don’t see us staying here in the future.

Our sixth trip back to the property. We love sitting on the balcony facing the bay watching for dolphins and watching the passing boats. Views are beautiful. Pool is beautiful.
