L'Auberge Chanteclair

We were there at the beginning of March as part of our South Adriatic trip. The breakfast was very good, and we really liked the tips for excursions. In the evenings, a chilled white wine was always placed on the veranda for guests. There was an honest bar with fair prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

such a special place also because it is run by two fantastic hosts, Yvonne and Allan. The historic cape dutch farmhouse exudes old world charm and has all the luxury one needs plus a beautiful garden and adjacent vineyard. Really don’t want to share too much because it is nearly always booked.

We think Chanteclair defines the gold standard in guest houses. Managed by experienced Africa hands, who willingly dispense so much useful information about the locality after serving great breakfasts, it has its own vineyard , a swimming pool, and great views whichever way you look. A complimentary glass of their own wine on the verandah ends the day and starts the evening perfectly. We chose The Studio which provides additional privacy, a log fire for chilly evenings and a back yard with a brai for the warmer ones. A week was not enough.

Charming residence where we spent two nights. The place is very quiet and invites you to relax on the terrace while admiring the surrounding landscapes. The room is spacious and very well decorated. It feels very good. The owners offer very good recommendations. The breakfasts on the terrace are excellent. So "Excellent" all around.

We have been staying at L'Auberge Chanteclair 4 days in the beginning of March 25. We've got a recommendation from a friend of us not to miss the opportunity to stay here some days as part of our South African vacation. And: our expectations have been surpassed!! First of all: the location outside the centre of Franschhoek very close to the mountains in a dead end road; very calm, safe and the entire site is very well taken care of. Wonderful green spaces, flowers, bushes, trees, own vine and a wonderful (hidden) pool help you to let your soul dangle. The owners are around the entire day and supporting their team in producing the breakfast and to answer all possible questions that might come up including tips how to plan the day...... The first highlight of each single day is the breakfast: We've seen quite some breakfast buffets, BUT this is a different dimension: A different fruit and juice offer every morning, prepared in a way that you want to take a picture, fresh bread (partly self baked) cheese, ham and sausage (very seldom in SA) and a choice of yogurt and muesli. On top of that you can choose different freshly cooked egg dishes. Again; this is outstanding!! Not to forget to mention: tasteful furnished appartments (we had our "own little house"), a high quality bed and a bathroom on best european standard. L'Auberge Chanteclair has been the best accomodation of our 4 weeds in SA, THANKS A LOT Yvonne & Allen and team!! Antje & Michael Mette from Germany
