Hotel am Klostergarten is a small hotel in Freising, Germany. First, let’s list its positive features. I booked a single room, so it was fairly small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine - pretty standard fare for Germany. The employee who took care of both the breakfast and the reception desk was pleasant and helpful. The location is desirable, with two nice restaurants very close by. The reason I was in Freising was to visit Munich for a day and then go to Munich Airport to fly home to the US. This hotel does not offer an airport shuttle. It has no elevator, which was a problem with my luggage. I think one thing that particularly needs attention is that the reception desk closes at noon, leaving guests who arrive towards evening on the doorstep in the cold, trying to figure out how to get a room key and enter. Someone let me in and helped, but it was unclear if this was a hotel employee or just another guest. Better staffing would make for a less stressful arrival.

The information said there would be a person at the hotel to register me until 6 p.m. I arrived at 5 p.m. and no one was there. Fortunately the machined worked fine to let me in. Also, there was no air conditioning so we were hot. We left the windows open at night to try to cool down and had to put up with lots of noise out on the street in front of our room. Difficult night with not a lot of sleep.
