The open-air hot spring, located by the sea, is divided into a women's section and a co-ed section. You can borrow yukata from the hotel, but the changing area is also open-air, so it can't be used if it rains. The main building also has a large public bath with indoor and outdoor sections. There's a shuttle bus service to and from Tsubakiyama Station. The dinner buffet offers a rich variety of options, but breakfast is just average. There are staff members who speak Chinese. The restroom in the room had a slight odor. It was a bit strange that an extra piece of cloth was placed on top of the neatly made bed; it made one overthink things.

Aside from the inconvenient location, with no direct highway access, everything else was great. Dinner was delicious, though breakfast was a bit simple. The onsen (hot spring) was fantastic, especially the unique 'Golden Hot Spring' by the sea. Soaking in it while watching the sunset was incredibly relaxing. The only downside was the large insects in the indoor hot spring, which scared many women quite a bit.

The hot spring was lovely, but the room's soundproofing wasn't great.

The hotel is old. But the mix onsen pool and outdoor pool near the sea is unique. They provide free bath shorts or dress for those who are shy to expose themselves in front of others. The buffet dinner and breakfast is substantial. we drove there so we are not sure of the transportation.

A truly unique experience! The blizzard train stopped, and the hotel came to pick us up at the designated location – fantastic service!

Superb views, buffet dinner options, diverse indoor outdoor bath options with salt and clear water!! A rare gem  for families. Staff spoke English at front desk and restaurants, and welcome descriptions note is written in English as well. Alternate timings at bath for Men and women assures equal views for both. The outside open air bath at the beach is probably the hit and can get crowded at sunset and less so during sunrise. The open air bath attached to the indoor area bath offers better sunset views, from an elevation of about 30 meters. We (family of three) enjoyed it very much and probably rank it the best of our three prefecture experience with respect to the bath.

The view is stunning but the hotel is old. It took quite a long time to get there.

I do not recommend them. They didn't respond when I inquired about the shuttle service more than a month in advance. Their customer service is nonexistent; no trains were running between Akita and the hotel due to heavy snowfall, they refused my cancellation request, and didn't even bother to write back. Very disappointed.

Just after the Great East Japan Earthquake in December, I had booked a trip to Aomori by the Gono Line, but unfortunately, I only found out a few days ago that it was cancelled. I contacted the hotel and took a free shuttle bus departing from Shin-Aomori, a journey of about two hours, which was relatively convenient. There are three onsen (hot springs) in total: one in the main building, one in the west wing, and one by the sea, each with its own unique characteristics, offering something for everyone.

The breakfast and dinner buffets were great. The beachside baths were nice, but it was windy and chilly in the morning.

The thing about this hot spring hotel is that you absolutely have to have the right mindset and perspective. If you've taken a long train or driven to a Japanese seaside hot spring, watched the sunset, and enjoyed this unique experience, and you're mostly surrounded by elderly men and women, don't be too disappointed; young women wouldn't come to such a place to soak. Everyone does soak together in the same pool at sunset, and the hotel provides robes. Many elderly people don't even seem to mind, just wandering around naked, seemingly unnoticed. Facilities: The water in the open-air pool is incredibly salty, perhaps due to the minerals, but I think it's more likely due to the elderly soaking too much. Also, be careful during the summer. The hotel itself has a notice warning you to be wary of blood-sucking bugs, which are everywhere. There are also indoor pools, but they feel like community bathhouses, with poor hygiene and a lingering, elderly-influenced odor. Cleanliness: Both the room and the bathhouse are old and prone to bugs. Blood-sucking bugs sometimes fly around at the beach, so be careful. The worst part is the old-fashioned air conditioner in the room, which is incredibly loud when placed on the floor. At night, after they make the bed, your pillow might be right next to the hairdryer. It's incredibly noisy all night long. Environment: Because the name "Bu*** Onsen" (literally, "Immortal Spring") is used by mostly elderly people, the facilities are quite dated, reminiscent of those from the 1970s and 1980s, from the doors to the stalls. It's clean, but definitely not modern. Service: The restaurant is a large cafeteria with a self-service buffet, and the food is quite good.
