COCO GOFUKUMACHI

We got off at Tenjin and took the subway to Gion. Following Google Maps, it took about 9 minutes to reach Lawson. There's a bus stop nearby where you can catch buses to many places, but the room is too small; it can't fit two large suitcases.

The room was a bit small, no breakfast, and no hotel lobby. It was self check-in. The pictures on Google made it look spacious, but it's actually quite tiny. There's a car park nearby, but you have to pay.

This hotel is super convenient! There's a supermarket and pharmacy nearby, and getting around by bus or subway is a breeze. You've got tons of food options in the vicinity too: curry, unagi, yakitori, local eateries, and even all-you-can-eat Kuroge Wagyu. Plus, Lawson, FamilyMart, and 7-Eleven are all close by. A huge bonus is that it's only three bus stops away from the original Ichiran Ramen location. The room itself was spacious and very clean. I loved that the bathroom and toilet were separate – so convenient, no waiting for someone to finish showering! You can grab complimentary toiletries from the lobby, and there's a water dispenser and microwave on the first floor, which was perfect for heating up convenience store food.

This hotel uses self-check-in and check-out. During the stay, guests have to pick up fresh towels and amenities themselves. The only downside is that for a 5-night stay, there's no housekeeping or linen change service. While this offers more privacy, the room definitely loses that clean and fresh feeling.

The self-check-in machine was easy to use and had a Chinese language option. It's very close to Gofukumachi Subway Station, Exit 5. The downside is there's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs to the exit – it was a real struggle! Then you take the escalator to the street level. Once you exit, turn left, then turn left again at the first traffic light you see. Turn right when you see LAWSON, and the hotel will be right there. The main entrance has two white wooden swing doors. The only drawback is that the hotel doesn't provide a washing machine or dryer for guests. You have to take your clothes out to a self-service laundromat. Our room had a huge crack in the window glass. I took a photo and showed it to the staff, and they said they were aware of it, so that's good, I guess. The bathroom is small and has no place to hang towels or clothes. You have to step out of the shower to dry yourself, which can be cold when the air conditioning is on due to the temperature difference. They only provide body wash and shampoo; you need to bring your own conditioner. There's no mirror on the desk, which is inconvenient for women who need to do their makeup. Remember to bring your own mirror. There's only one mirror above the sink, but it's a bit far, making makeup application awkward. The room space is quite large. We had no problem opening two 30-inch large suitcases. The higher floors offer views of the buildings outside. You'll need to keep the curtains closed, or everyone will see inside! 😂

The accommodation was clean and had a great atmosphere. They also offered luggage storage, which was incredibly convenient – it was so nice to drop off my bags and then move around freely. When I tried to check in, my name wasn't showing up in the system, and I was confused. Turns out, if my name is 'Hong Gil-dong' (Korean standard), I should have entered it as 'Gil-dong Hong' (Western order)... I completely forgot I was abroad! ㅠㅠ

This is a newly opened guesthouse-style accommodation with self check-in. After getting the room number and password, you use the password to retrieve the key from a lockbox outside your room. The room itself is very spacious, and the bathroom and toilet are separate. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great. There's an eel rice and ramen restaurant right downstairs, and a Lawson convenience store just a minute away, which is super convenient! Overall, it offers great value for money!

I stayed here for an event at Marine Messe Fukuoka. It's located in Gofukumachi, roughly halfway between Hakata Station and Marine Messe Fukuoka, with convenience stores and restaurants nearby. The hotel is set back a bit from the main street, making for a quiet stay. My only minor complaint would be the lack of conditioner, as only shampoo and body soap were provided. They also let me check in a little early, which was a great help.

The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the bus terminal. The room was very spacious, with a balcony. The toilet, shower, and sink were all separate. The bed was comfortable and the duvet was warm. The room has a TV, kettle, and cups. Comfy slippers are provided. We didn't try it, but there's a cafe at the hotel that offers curry sets. I wasn't too fond of the soundproofing. I could hear a lot of laughing voices at night. The tablet check-in was intuitive, but I would have preferred a human check-in.
