Very nice hotel in a beautiful location. Food is ok not super but good. Look for the offers because the normal price is not worth it. Much needs replacing. Hotel is dated but clean and hygienic

A gorgeous location with nice, clean rooms and good food, but facilities are tired and staff were unhappy. We didn't have a the warmest welcome. We arrived 10 mins early for check-in and we were asked to wait until 2pm exactly to get our room. 10 mins later, a queue formed at check-in with everyone wanting their keys, and loads of people needing their bags taken to rooms, causing congestion and confusion. It's definitely not a customer/guest focused culture at Cathedral Peak Hotel. Generally speaking, service was bad. The front desk staff in particular were little to no help when asking questions about activities, hikes, petrol, and parking. We did have a wonderful guided hike with Samson, our walking guide, but otherwise we didn't find the staff very friendly. It was rare to get a hello or smile from any staff walking by. On the positive side the food is abundant and delicious. There is something for everyone in the main dining room. There is a lot to do at this resort, but the PDF doesn't do the best job of explaining what's on offer or of enticing guests to attend. A suggestion for this resort would be to hire some activity coordinators. E.g. people walking around getting to know the guests and informing them about what is going on at the resort and what is available to do - this would be especially nice on rainy days (which we had a lot of). A lot of the included activities were tailored towards groups with children. I can see how this would be more of an enjoyable stay for families, rather than couples or solo travellers. While we didn't play mini golf, the course definitely looked like it needed a bit of maintenance. We did play badminton and we were given a broken birdie and rackets that were full of rust. Overall, we made the most of our stay. We enjoyed the nature, hikes, food, large rooms, and facilities for what they were worth. Though, for the price, it's not great value and the service does not reflect the 4-star rating.

We spent 6 nights at Cathedral Peak Hotel last week, with our two 20something children. It was an exceptional week. From mini golf to squash to chilling at the pool, my son’s round of golf, the hikes we did, the spectacular views and the exceptional array of dishes in the dining room, we had a fabulous stay. We must make special mention of Zweli, the guide who accompanied us on the Ribbon falls hike, the bird walk and the Albert falls via Doreen falls hike. He was attentive to everyone’s needs, ensured the pace was correct for the slowest walker, and took extra special care when scrambling up rocks to pull those of us up who needed assistance. Needless to say we are checking our diaries to book for April so we can do some other hikes and complete the Cathedral Four Challenge.

We had a lovely stay at Cathedral Peak – the setting is absolutely stunning, the hotel is very comfortable, and the food was excellent. The adult facilities are great, and we really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Our only real disappointment was with the children's entertainment. While the outdoor play areas like the pool, playground and putt-putt course were fun, the indoor playroom wasn’t very inviting or well-supervised, especially on rainy days. We were also hoping for a more engaging kids' activity programme, especially over the Easter Weekend, as advertised. That said, this feedback comes from a place of wanting to see the resort live up to its full potential – especially for families. With some improvements to the kids' club and programming, Cathedral Peak could be a truly fantastic all-round destination for guests of all ages.

I've been lucky enough to come here 3 times over a space of 15 years. The location is spectacular, and there is such an air of nostalgia at Cathedral Peak. It has hardly changed over the years - and is a wonderful place for an outdoor family to spend some quality time together - putt-putt games, swims in the pool, the spa after a long walk, adult pool tournaments in the bar that got rowdy, evening entertainment of Bingo, Quiz Nights and the like kept us all entertained and not the mention the jaw dropping beauty that is the location. At times you can easily think you have stepped into a painting. The hotel itself has been trapped in a time warp of decor, but it's clean, and comfortable with welcoming staff and walks to inspire the soul. Thank you for yet more very happy family memories.
