Super warm friendly welcome- lovely bright airy room and the comfiest biggest bed ever. Tea/coffee in the room and handy fridge. Short walk and tea at the Buccleuch - really good . Beer garden at the back a real sun trap. Best nights sleep ever as not a lot around here. We stayed mid week so quiet

Travelling towards Edinburgh and found this little gem. Wonderfully friendly welcome. Terrific service. Beautiful room. Outstanding breakfast. Just a great spot to stay. Couldnt do enough to make our visit the best it could be. Would highly recommend for a good stopover.

We had a last minute stay on a Saturday night. We were informed that live music would be on that evening but that we shouldn't be able to hear it from our room. I couldn't hear the music but I could hear: - Slamming of the heavy door at the bottom of the private staircase (to the guest bedrooms) until the early hours of the morning. This was a separate space to the pub/ bar area - Periodic loud singing and shouting from the foot of the staircase until the early hours - Pub goers outside our bedroom window shouting/ singing until the early hours of the morning. Admittedly, guests were taken back inside after I poked my head out the window asking them to be quiet. Single glazing made it seem like they were in my bedroom. - Loud dance music with a strong bass line until well after midnight Upon raising these issues the following day I was told that they were a busy pub who try their best to control the noise, and that they were sorry. Not good enough after a £100 stay! Surely being able to sleep is a bare minimum when booking a room?! There were good points, staff on arrival were friendly and welcoming and whilst the room was far from luxurious, it did have everything we needed. I would however expect far better for the price.

We rang Leanne early evening for a late booking and she managed to accommodate us within the hour. Leanne went above and beyond for us, preparing the room, sorting breakfast and even going as far as moving her car to let us have a parking space. The beds, bedding and towels were of a good quality and we had a comfortable stay. A big thank you again, Leanne.

This is very much a locals pub in a not very attractive village that has no other amenities. If that is your thing then this could be for you. Sadly, from the website and previous reviews, we thought we were booking a boutique hotel, but the rooms were not of the standard that we would normally choose, and we wouldn't have felt comfortable having a night cap at the bar. The breakfast was ok, but again served in surroundings that are not what we are used to. For £115 quite honestly we would have expected more and we have paid less for better bed and breakfast.

From start to finish we’ve had the best stay ever. Leanne was very welcoming, The room was spacious and comfortable. Suzanne was superb in the bar. We really enjoyed talking to Tam, Rab, John and many more friendly locals. Finally the breakfast was perfect thanks to Ruthie. Many thanks Rab and Andrena

We were very happy with our online booking choice. Travelling from NZ for my first visit to Scotland, it was a great pick. Thanks to Leanne who looked after us very well - she has great attention to detail and this shows in the great venue and service. Thanks Leanne!

I needed a sleepover to break up a long drive - the room was lovely and exactly what I needed. Leanne was super helpful and responsive and gave good recommendations for places to eat.
