"The resort is nicely built at the Galu beach and has access to the sea. Nice buildings with good standards, air condition, spacious sleeping and living rooms and various pools. We also had a chief and various other people to cook for us and take care of the cleaning, laundry, well being in general. Overall it was a great experience with very friendly and helpful staff."

Blue Marlin Beach Hotel

Blue Marlin Beach Hotel

📍 Diani Beach Road, Galu
★★★ 8.2 (19 reviews)

"Nice place to stay and good value. Some notes that may be helpful: - tuktuk 200+100 ksh tip to Ali Babour’s Cave Restaurant for 3 people (max capacity of a tuktuk). Just go out to road and flag one down. About the same cost to get to a Carrefour supermarket. - Free bottled water in rooms (room temp). They provide more when you run out - Breakfast (bnb option) was amazing. Fruit, yoghurt, eggs, sausage, waffles, coffee, juice - Very entertaining watching the kite surfers in front of the resort - Air conditioning works well - No pressure for purchasing food, drinks or trinkets when lounging on their nice beach chairs all afternoon. - If driving from the Momasa train station or airport it may be a many hour wait for the ferry going south out of Mombasa. A bypass bridge is possibly opening up later in 2024 which will be much faster. Flying in/out of the diani airport (Ukunda) is a 15 min drive to the Blue Marlin."

"We traveled together as two couples and initially stayed at the neighboring Neptune Paradise. During that first week, we discovered Al Mahali Villas and, after some friendly contact, were even able to view one of the villas. For our second week, we booked one of the larger villas with three bedrooms – ideal for up to six people. The resort is in a quiet location, very green and well-maintained, with direct access to the beach. The private pool is also beautifully designed and we used it regularly. Overall, we felt very comfortable there – you have peace and quiet while still having enough options for self-catering. The daily cleaning service deserves special mention; it not only cleaned but also did the dishes and made the beds. An evening turndown service was also included. The staff were always friendly, helpful, and professional – especially Veronica, who took care of everything. The villa itself is tastefully furnished and adequately equipped. However, there are some minor structural flaws that should be addressed at some point – including… Initially, our air conditioning wasn't reliable, the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak at times, and there were a few areas where improvements could be made. None of this was serious, but it was noticeable (from a Western perspective). The kitchen was well-equipped enough for self-catering. There are supermarkets and delivery services nearby. A chef can also be booked through management (around $20 USD per day), but we didn't use this service. The complex also has its own restaurant, which looked promising, but was a bit pricey compared to other beachfront restaurants – so we didn't try it. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay with good service and a peaceful atmosphere. Self-catering is easy, the location is fantastic, and we were very impressed with the whole package. We would definitely come back."

Mzima Beach Residences - Diani Beach ★★★★
"We feel so welcomed here even when we are just using the gym (which has to be one of the best on the beach front). Charles, Josephine and all the staff always make time to chat to us and always asked how our day is. We chatted to Charles regarding my birthday and he suggested having a birthday break staying at Mzima he was happy to show us the rooms available. It was such a great decision Charles and the team made my birthday celebrations and our stay perfect, nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond. From decorating the room in flowers, having David the chef come and discuss dinner options for us and friends. The food was amazing and so well cooked (the coconut curry was cooked to perfection) and the staff were brilliant, polite and so helpful. This is a beautiful hotel in a breathtaking location but it is Charles and his team that make this hotel that extra bit special by making you feel you are the most important person. Would highly recommend (and we already have to friends) it truly was a 5* experience. Thank you"

Blue Marlin Beach Hotel ★★★
"The location of the hotel is very good, just in front of the beach, but it needs an urgent renovation, the room was big and had sea views, but the bathroom smelled very bad, they must have issues with the plumbing system. The comon areas of the hotel, swming pool, sunbeds, etc looked old and poorly mantained. Only the lobby area seemed ti have been recently renovated as well as the restaurant, the only thing among the waiters, that was really worth it. The food was espectacular and the personnel really nice and welcoming. If the owners of the hotel would invest in a real renovation of the place it could be a really amazing hotel to stay."
