Excellent place & great location. All staff were friendly & helpful & made us feel welcome. The hotel itself is a gem great decor. The room was clean & fresh. We booked for evening meal which was gorgeous the steak & kidney pie was one of the best I’ve tasted. The breakfast was great with a great choice it was all cooked to perfection.

We stayed 1 night as we had a house clearance to attend to following a family bereavement. The room was spotless, it was very warm and cosy on a very cold night - -8deg! There was plenty of choice for breakfast which was freshly cooked to order. What's not to be pleased with? Very central location in Garstang with free parking and WiFi. Highly recommend! Thank you.

Amazing Dropped by today for a Sunday roast, had the royal roast that consisted of 3 different meats and it was perfect, my partner had the beef and it was cooked to perfection. The team were so attentive taking our drinks and food order at the table and checking on us during our meal, if you ever in garstang I would give this beautiful pub a try. See you again soon

Dissopinted with are meals, I have been going to Royal Oak for meals for many years and can say I have never been dissatisfied the food quality and portion size along with prices always been good. I had heard on the Garstang grapevine that the food had deteriorated since the new manager had taken over the running. I went with an open mind and thought I would be the judge of the food. To start with a positive the staff both at the bar and meal server was very pleasant, I ordered fish and chips which I have had many times before my 2 friends went for scampi. My fish arrived which was 2 small battered fish squares which resembled something you would get from a cheap supermarket frozen section, on the plate was a small handful of chips I would say maybe 12-14 frozen and a small dish with a spoonful of mushy peas all for best part of £18 I don’t mind paying £18 when the food is good but all I can say it was just ok on a par with what you would get at Weatherspoons for half the price inc a pint. My friends scampi was ok nothing special but you cannot really mess scampi up but sorry again for the price nothing special on a par to Weatherspoons. Pub was busy all tables full I feel it will be like myself people will visit once and not return which is shortsighted of the management for the sustainability of the business long term. My recommendation would be send the chef back to training school loosen the purse strings and purchase quality products. Get the old chef back asap or you will not survive 12 months I’m afraid. It will be a long time before I return I am afraid the gossip appears to be correct such a shame.

An absolute waste of time! Booked in advance for a Sunday roast, arrived 4.35pm with my family got seated at pre-booked table placed our order (3 x Sunday roast) only for the waiter to come back and say sorry no Sunday roast left (4.45pm) My family were hungry as we had traveled an hour to get there so we decided to stay and order from the menu! To be told we have no scampi left no steak no lamb! A now narrowed menu we all chose the burger. To add to the disappointment the waiter once AGAIN came back to say sorry no burgers, an absolute joke. Avoid at all costs

Lovely meal had with my family today. We ordered the mixed grill, Cumberland sausage and I had the lamb chops. I don't usually eat lamb but fancied something different. Well they were delicious! Staff very friendly (as usual) and attentive. We will be visiting our lovely local again soon!

What a disappointment! It used to be so good but after eating here won't be going again. I realize prices have gone up and except that but £18 for fish that was inedible and a tiny pot of peas with a few frozen chips!!! To be fair I sent it back and it was replaced by an average meal. I must say however the waiter and waitress were very good indeed....pity the food wasn't such a shame.
