Thon Hotel Skeikampen ★★★

"We rented an apartment at Thon Hotel Skeikampen and were initially assigned apartment 5001. Upon arrival, we discovered silverfish (skjeggkre) traps placed throughout the apartment, with live catches in them. This is clearly an active infestation. All of the traps were deliberately hidden from view, placed behind furniture in the bedrooms and tucked under the kitchen units. We only discovered them because we moved the double bed to prepare a safe sleeping arrangement for our small child. Without that, we would never have known. We contacted the desk and were moved to apartment 1001. This apartment also had traps, but with no visible catches. However, hotel staff had accessed the apartment before we arrived, so there is no way of knowing whether traps with catches were removed beforehand. What is truly disappointing is how the hotel handled the situation afterwards. The day after we were moved out of apartment 5001 due to the silverfish infestation, the hotel moved other staff members into that same apartment. I highly doubt they were informed about the situation. I fully understand that silverfish are a growing problem, but I expect a professional hotel chain like Thon Hotels to take it seriously, isolate the problem, and work on eradication before renting the unit to new guests. The service was also very poor. We were first asked to send photos via text message, only to be told half an hour later that we needed to send them by email instead. No staff offered to come up and inspect the room. We were promised that "the manager" would call us the following day. That call never came. On top of this, the cleaning was severely lacking. There was leftover rubbish in the apartments from previous guests. The only positive is a decent breakfast. Beyond that, this hotel feels like a place where everything is about profit, at the expense of guest experience and hygiene. I really cannot recommend this to anyone, especially not families with children."
