We booked an Easter holiday at Monemvasia in April 2023. We thought would have a pictureresque with local touch stay, as in other places in Greece during Easter. However, it turned out that they do not respect visitors and their own place. The village is without any traditional colour, trees, flowers or a nicely paved promenade.... Νο traditional dances for Easter day, no lights for the Monenvasia rock or village, no lanterns or other kind of festivitity to make it wothwhile to stay... Overestimated and overpriced... PS Our hotel did not meet the advertised amenities but it is for another review

This is a beautiful spot and well worth a visit, but it is busy and cramped and you have to park a bit away from the entrance gate. It’s bigger than you think, with lanes and stairs everywhere. Well worth the climb up to the fortress for the views but not for the faint hearted. We stayed in the centre and couldn’t sleep for the noise coming out of one of the bars-till nearly 4am! If you’re going to stay, choose a hotel farther away from the entrance gate. Swimming is possible from the rocks.
