MM507585****Extremely satisfied! I've had my eye on this hotel for a long time and finally got to check it out.
I think it's a must-stay hotel when visiting Penang. It's incredibly photogenic with fantastic views, perfect for anyone who loves taking pictures.
The bed was quite comfortable. Even though it's an antique hotel, its long history doesn't make it feel old or worn; on the contrary, it has a lot of character. The Heritage Wing is indeed excellent. There's an infinity pool, I believe, in the Victory Annexe, which is also great for photos. Guests staying in the Heritage Wing can access the Victory Annexe, but not vice-versa, so I highly recommend booking the Heritage Wing to enjoy both areas' services.
Breakfast: There are three breakfast options. I had the à la carte breakfast exclusive to the Heritage Wing. The taste was just okay, but the ambiance and service were both very good.
Accommodation: The bed was very clean and comfortable, quite soft. Having stayed in many five-star hotels, I'd say the bed here is exceptionally comfortable.
Suggestion for the hotel: In the future, perhaps you could arrange for some observant staff to help with luggage at the entrance.

GGuest UserCheck in lobby was hard to locate as it was at the side of the hotel block. Upon check in, I was given third floor. When I asked if I could have higher floor as indicated in my booking request, staff said I need to top up. This was clearly upselling. I was not willing as the price for each room was not cheap in the first place. Staff knew that i was aware it was the bottom tier room & mentioned the freebis in the room was npt charged. I was not impressed as I do not come all the way to Penang for some freebies. Hptel staff obviously did not know what hospitality is all about.Entering the room, it was not too bad. When I opened the window, I almost flipped out. It was rubbish (attached a pic). I then confirmed I was given the bottom tier room. Opening the wardrobe, there was a musty oily smell which obviously was not aired for a while. Stay at room was not comfortable. Badly lit and no way to open window to rubbish view. I guess the only good thing was the shuttle to the various shopping/ eating spots. Upon check out, i was asked if stay was good. I indicated to the staff my stay at the hotel was disappointing due to the above reasons. Staff said i could email the hotel in advance in my next visit indicating the reason above. But I will like to tell the management this -- no way am i coming back to this hotel that only know to upsell & missing out on what true hospitality means. There are hotels out there that offer much better services without breaking the bank. Thanks but no thanks.

VVivienc2This was always the only hotel I chose to stay in Penang. But this time stay was a bit disappointed with the overall staff service level. Not sure if it’s a new batch of staff. But when we entered our room, toilet amenities were empty and I called to request. But when staff came up, entered our room and looked. And again asked what we need. We explained once again and he left and return by giving us 1 set.
But we booked a twin share room. Are u not suppose to give 2 sets?😅
At night when we return, after housekeeping which they should replace but did not give us toilet roll, toilet mat and etc.
So, really disappointed this time as compare to previous few times stay.

We could jot sleep or rest after our long drive to the hotel. Rooms very old and outdated. Bathroom was small, the bidet was on the wrong side of the toilet.
Air-conditioning was not working! Maintenance had to chg the filter but still it was bad.
Room slippers was the worst, rooms carpet was coming off the metal ***** almost cut my feet.
Breakfast and the staff was a plus, but overall very noisy the room, thet need to call the pest control, I think rats running in the vents!! Great free parking but you have to take a long drive back to the lobby, a huge turn around from the parking... bad experience overall.

JJamyadeThe hotel staff are generally very approachable and helpful. We asked for recommendations on good food places and the front desk staff gave some good suggestions and pointed to us on the travelers’ map. The hotel is slightly further away from the main food hawkers and restaurant than we thought, so getting meals requires at least 5-10 min walk for most of the time. The room is comfortable and clean. We weren’t able to enjoy the rooftop swimming pool due to the rainy season. It’s reasonable pricing for the amenities and location, as most of the time we can get a grab very easily. What can be improved the the food quality and taste at the hotel restaurant , it was not very tasty and the prawn cracker especially.

GGuest UserThe counter service name kelvin was so thoughtful by helping my mum to change room because her room side 1217 got indian temple chanting during midnight 4am to 9 am and make her cannot sleep thus kelvin the hotel stuff help her to change to lower room ( 1006) which is bigger , cleaner and no sound during midnight my mum and sister was satisfied and able to sleep well

BBabylindPlace is super clean. Location is just next to city centre (5 minutes drive). Sofa bed is comfy and we selected the unit with Cinema theme (projector). We all enjoyed our relaxing movie time at late evening. Check in procedures is clear and easy too.

GGuest UserThe hotel is great — the room is spacious and comfortable, with a nice bathroom and full amenities. The location is also very convenient.
However, I’d deduct some points for cleanliness. It seems the cleaning focuses only on the frequently used areas such as the bed, table, and floor. There’s still dust under the table legs, on the TV panel and mirror frame, inside the drawers, and under the tissue box.
Overall though, it’s a good and comfortable place to stay.

GGuest UserOverall we are satisfied with our stay, the room is big. Cons - basin located outside of the toilet and no handwash provided, it is inconvenient for us. Also, we never expect we will be charged for RM10 per day for parking. Pros - the hotel is quite Instagrammable and good to have simple kids play room. Funny fact - hotel will give free drinks everyday but you need to redeem the voucher at the reception EVERYDAY, it is really funny, why don’t just give a total vouchers and state the day there?

CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.
