St. Giles Wembley Penang

Great location, right across from KOMTAR, making it easy to get anywhere. It only took us about 10 minutes to walk to the street art/murals and to Chew Jetty for the sunrise. Heading south, you'll also find the Cecil Street Market (7th Street) and 3rd Street Market. Just one street behind the hotel is the 3rd Street food area, which is great for eating and shopping. Lots of Chinese travelers stay here. The front desk staff speaks Chinese. Note that there is a heritage tax to pay at check-in, but the good news is you can pay by scanning a QR code, so no cash is needed. The decor is a bit dated, but it's very clean and the room size is just right.

The hotel's location is excellent, the decor is nice, and it's very clean. There's a night market and supermarket nearby. The Indian gentleman at the front desk spoke excellent English and was very communicative. He immediately arranged a non-connecting room as requested. When we left, he even helped us with our luggage when we called a taxi.

The room was spotless. I brought a filtered shower head, and after three nights, the filter didn't show any yellowing at all. The room was a bit small but perfectly adequate. The view from the window was absolutely stunning! The service was excellent; they helped with our luggage during both check-in and check-out.

The hotel room has a bit of an 'old money' vibe, and the environment is very good. There's free popcorn and water available in the lobby on the first floor. Water can be refilled from the dispensers in the hallway, which is very convenient.

Unbeatable value for money, right next to the city's tallest building with direct sea views. It's also super convenient for visiting the Sunday market and New Lane Hawker Centre. The cleaning was top-notch, and there are many adorable stray cats around the nearby shops!

The room was a bit small, but very clean. Most of the guests were Chinese, and there were few foreigners, which made the atmosphere friendly, almost like being in my hometown. When checking in, I didn't encounter anyone who spoke Chinese. I was attended by a dark-skinned young man.
