"Scam"

Cara Lodge Hotel

"My wife and would like to offer our sincere apologies to a few of the staff at Cara lodge in Georgetown, Guyana. First of all to the two receptionists we encountered on our three separate stays in April - it was very thoughtless of us to arrive during the day and disturb you by wanting to check in. Furthermore we didn’t know it was rude to smile and be friendly or we certainly wouldn’t have done so, and should not have been surprised that you did not return the smiles. It was also especially inconsiderate of us to have expected someone to help take our one bag up three flights of steep and narrow stairs, even though we were staying in the Quamina Suite - your top accommodations. To compound our rudeness I personally apologize to the receptionist I asked for glue or something to help reattach a sole that had come loose on my sneaker. I should not have been surprised that you didn’t give a damn and offer any kind of help. We also offer our most sincere apologies to the tall waitress at breakfast - there is no reason for you to smile and be pleasant at 8AM when we were they only people in the restaurant. We also apologize for disturbing you at the bar in the afternoon and we know we were because you made it very obvious. We would however like to thank the barman and the two waiters who looked after us so wonderfully at our delicious rum tasting dinner, and the pleasant and helpful young man on our second and third stays who did carry our bag up the three flights of steps."

Plaza Court Hotel

"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, which has a lovely boutique feel throughout. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, making the whole experience feel very personal. I was travelling with someone who has multiple allergies, and the team went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, which we really appreciated. The service felt genuinely attentive and thoughtful. The food was excellent, and the breakfast in particular was a highlight, with plenty of fresh fruit and a variety of hot options that changed daily. The lounge area was spacious and relaxing and perfect for unwinding. Our room was very clean, generously sized, and well-maintained, with bottled water provided every day. The beds were extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The hotel is in a good location and we felt very safe throughout our stay. Kanuku Suites

"The Kanuku Suites provides limited service accommodations for mostly work related guests. I stayed here for the better part of a week. I personally found the amenities and services on the website misleading. Employees are helpful and kind but require more hospitality training. The Angel Restaurant looks like a "Bottom House" restaurant and requires serious upgrading in every department. The complimentary breakfast is pathetic. I also get the feeling there is a master servant relationship between owner and staff. Is there enough value for the price of the room. Unequivocally No. Would I come back here. Not likely. "
