Minshuku Kappo Shoen

This is a family-run B&B. The proprietress was born in Gero and speaks good English. It is a three-minute walk from Gero Station and has an excellent location. The B&B only has the downstairs and the second floor. Our room was on the second floor, and we had to carry our luggage up a long narrow wooden staircase. The toilet was outside the room, and the female and male toilets were outside, on the left and right sides of the corridor respectively. The bathroom and hot spring room were downstairs, and you could lock the bathroom and enjoy the hot spring by yourself. The hot spring room is open from 4pm to 9am. However, a few minutes of soaking is usually enough. There are two tatami mats in the room, both of which are very clean. Basic facilities are available, but no bottled water is provided. There is a restaurant downstairs, which closes at 7pm, and the set meal is quite cost-effective. There is a large lucky cat opposite the B&B. Check out time is 10am. If you want to experience the life of a Japanese B&B, this is a good choice.

The room was large, clean, tidy and comfortable. The service was very good. Because I rushed there from Tsumago-juku that day, the bus was late (two hours late). I arrived after 10:30 pm. I originally had to check in before 10 pm. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to stay, but I didn't expect that the boss waited for me and gave me a pot of hot water. Because I was late, I had a private hot spring bath for myself.
