Marc and Jan have created an exquisite haven of peace right in the centre of Ghent. The house itself is like a museum with its eclectic mix of old and new, all tastefully done in keeping with their interior designing skills. They are excellent hosts and, together with their spaniel Tomba, made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was a delightful performance and made us feel very special. It perfectly set us up for exploring the delights of Ghent which are largely all within a short walking distance. They recommended several places to eat and all the ones we tried were excellent. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here for a romantic few days.

Jan & Marc are fabulous hosts and the house is beautiful. 5 star service throughout our stay. Firstly, the parking is extremely secure and also reasonably priced and only a 50m walk to the residence. The property is ideally located 5 mins walk from the centre of Ghent, evrything in the house is wonderfully decorated and last but not least, The Breakfast, wow, you have to have the breakfast!

The B&B is a mansion from the 18th century. The owners of the building preserved the original atmosphere as it was in that period and decorated it with all the details in mind. Since they are interior designers themselves, this hotel emerged as a work of art. We felt very special during our stay here. The quality of the breakfast and the table setting were magnificent. The room was very nice. The owners Jan&Marc are very kind people. A hotel where you will experience the same atmosphere as the texture of the city of Ghent.

Jan & Marc are fantastic hosts and you will love their English Spaniel Tombo. The house is filled with gorgeous antiques yet its very cozy and comfortable. Breakfast is a wonderful experience & enjoy the garden at sunset. I have stayed at hotels all over the world & The Verhaegen ranks at the top!

We had a wonderful weekend here and can’t recommend it enough. Beautiful property lovingly restored. The owners were perfect hosts and the hotel and gardens are a calming oasis in the middle of town. We will try to visit Ghent again in a quieter time and will definitely head for the B&B The Verhaegen.

A Very Special Place. Would definitely stay again
One of the best places I have ever stayed in anywhere. The attention to detail was unbelievable, the decoration of the whole mansion was incredible, it could easily be a museum. We stayed in the suite. The room was very spacious, clean and very very comfortable. It was walking distance from all the main sites. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in a cosy room for one night. This was the perfect location to explore and walk everywhere. Jan, Marc and staff were very warm, friendly, and attentive and provided a helpful orientation to the city. The hotel itself is very special like stepping into a piece of history. Gorgeously decorated. It was wonderful to have the chance to give the dog a few pets too! The cosy room was perfect for two and thoughtfully organized, had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!
