"As Joe Bastianich would say...DISCUSSION. I'll tell you a short, sad story: A group of friends decided to book a package at the hotel that included spa access, accommodations, and dinner. Up until dinner, everything had gone smoothly. But dinner... beyond reproach: poor quality ingredients, a lack of imagination, or rather, the chef's incompetence, created an explosive mix that we'll hardly forget."

"The hotel is located in a deserted, unattractive part of Italy. Its proximity to Taormina and Catania is a plus. It's very nicely done and initially appears high-quality. However, upon closer inspection, everything seems a bit neglected: the daybeds by the pool weren't really clean, and the dishes and towels at the pool hadn't been cleared away from the previous day. The garden was being noisily tended, which took over three hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., including mowing the lawn and blowing leaves, while you were lounging by the pool. The breakfast is nice, and the staff are friendly!"

"It's a very quirky hotel, overlooked by the brooding volcano behind. The atmosphere owes a lot to the history of the site, upcycling and exhibiting machinery and objects used there. There are a variety of room types, and we were in a ground floor room by the pool. The breakfast was continental supplemented by local produce and bakeries, especially the home made jams and yogurts! The pool area was clean and well kept. Plenty of sunbeds and a covered lounge area, with an afternoon pool bar. Giarre itself is a 20 minute walk with a good rail link. The local village is unremarkable with few bars and eateries. It was a good location as a base for exploring Etna and surrounding locations. Having a car or driver, or being part of a travelling group adds to the value of this gem of a hotel."
