We were visiting the area and wanted a overnight stay . The room was great value for money. Good bed ,nice bedding easy used bathroom. Some knocks on the walls on furniture and walls but everything was in the room coffee ,tea ,water ,toiletries . The evening meal was good and well priced ,breakfast was plentiful. ( continental in the week) .The marmalade needs to ge marketed , home made ,gorgeous. What is special about this hotel are the staff. Lovely welcome from Bernard, who even had to move his car for us . The lovely blonde girl in the bar and restaurant ( forgive me not remembering your name ) Bar chap was great and the lovely breakfast lady too. Many thanks to you all.

We’d booked this September 2024 to stay August 2025 ( paid on arrival) and after reading the reviews we ignored as this place had recently been taken over by new management and didn’t disappoint. easy to find on the A47, has parking off the road and a car park. Rooms have 2 keys - room key and main door key to use after 10pm. Rooms are a nice size, bed is comfortable, tv ( but a little to small as can’t see the wording), coffee machine, tea & coffee, bottle of water. Spacious wardrobes, shower over bath - all clean. We had evening meal and prices are not that expensive, the red wine was on offer at 10%off and therefore much better value than £9 a glass. My starter was a little misleading as menu said “sautéed mushrooms” on a muffin and i was served a “Large mushroom” on a muffin!!. The mains were excellent value and the cheese board was well worth it. Breakfast was hot buffet as we stayed the weekend, but on the first morning a little disappointed as we got down at 08:50 and there was no 3 rashers of bacon and nothing got replenished - seemed like you could only have one item. Also there was only scrambled egg, i would have thought they could offer a fried or pouched egg to order? On the Sunday they seemed to replenish more frequently. The rooms are cleaned daily - although they couldn’t clean our rooms as we were still in them until 12am due to on the Saturday you can’t use the bar lounge or garden area after breakfast until 12am when the bar is opened again!! Maybe in the future this will change as on a sunny day you don’t want to sit in your room. All in all this is a pleasant stay for a few days - Rutland water is 15 mins drive, Stamford 30 minutes drive, reasonably priced for the area and food for passing trade

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting the area . We received a warm welcome from the owner Bernard. Our room (7) was comfortable and had everything needed to make our stay comfortable . We ate in the restaurant both nights and enjoyed everything we had . Food was served hot and was reasonably priced. Julia, our server did a great job and was both friendly and efficient . Breakfast was good. Continental breakfast Monday to Friday and a full English buffet at the weekend . All in all a great stay and we would definitely book again if in the area .

We stayed one night at the Old Pheasant as we had booked a theatre trip at Tolethorpe hall and gardens. We had an excellent stay, very clean and comfortable room. A lovely meal in the bar and breakfast was very good too. We loved the location, it was very quiet and relaxing. Thank you!

Great welcoming country hotel, bar and restaurant. Comfy rooms, nice food ( amazing breakfast) and peaceful location. Good base for Rutland Water which is a few minutes away. Good off road parking and easy to find. Cosy bar with nice fireplace. Lovely in summer or winter. Chatty staff.

We booked last minute, I have to say that all of the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly. We ate in the bar that night, the food was nice, beer was good. Breakfast was continental, every thing fresh, rooms were spotless, fans supplied, everything was good, no issues.

A nice friendly pub in a lovely area. Comfortable room, friendly team and good home cooked food. We recorded a warm welcome and despite incredibly hot weather our room was cool and the bed very comfortable. Continental breakfast and good home cooked evening meals.
