Food was scarce on the plate. Too expensive for the portion of small food we got. Over priced. Service appalling. Constantly had to call the staff for service which was also very slow. No toilet paper in the toilet. Really bad smell of mould. Carpets filthy. Bedrooms old, tatty, not comfortable and dirty. Certainly not value for money, felt very resentful after leaving feeling we were robbed. Will not return. Would not recommend this hotel.

I’m staying here tonight and thankfully I’ve only booked for one night, I can’t wait to get home! I took my elderly mother for a Christmas night away and wish I hadn’t. The hotel does not have ‘ old world charm ‘ as expected, it’s just old, grotty, smelly, old fashioned ( and not in a good way ) Our room is horrible, the only socket by the dressing table is for the television, so you can’t dry or style your hair. The bathroom is disgusting, toilet seat hanging off, and the shower looks like a health hazard!! The sink is in an alcove in the bedroom. The television cable has tape wrapped around it. You have to plug the kettle in beside your bed. We had dinner included in our booking. Waited ages, and it wasn’t worth the wait. No condiments on the table. No atmosphere. Felt more like a working man’s club than a hotel restaurant, and far from ‘ gourmet ‘ as on the website!! My Mums turkey and ham was drowning in gravy which we didn’t ask for, so it had to go back. This meant my dinner was cold by the time she got hers. We didn’t even bother having dessert, just came back to bed. I’m not very optimistic about breakfast. I would never stay here again, and certainly do not recommend it. One good point - friendly helpful lady who served us in the restaurant and helped us with our bag, thank you.

I returned home yesterday from a stay here with my friend for 1 night. We were very pleased with the central location which is on the door step of everything and allows you to reach all of the areas of interest, bars and restaurants in the evening. It was lovely to be just moments away from the main streets, cafes and shops. Being so close to everything allowed us to visit all of the attractions we had planned to see. I would love to stay again as I had a great experience. I found it was best to sleep with the window open for some fresh air as the heating is on all night in winter time and this becomes too warm for me. We enjoyed the breakfast too as part of our package which was incredible value. We were served by Niamh who was very nice and happy to meet in the morning and we spoke to her again as she checked us out with a smile. Special mention also to Natasha who was very accommodating, we met her at check- in and we were happy to see her again at check-out! Sarah & Ger

The room was basic and rundown but the bathroom was a disaster. A piddly amount of water came out of the shower. Also the light wasn't good and the two mirror lights weren't working. The bathroom needs a complete remodelling, it's just very old and dated but the kicker was the piddly stream of water coming out of the shower. For 230 euro, it was a joke. Avoid.

The Club House Hotel definitely has a lot of rustic charm and is not for visitors with mobility issues due to the stairs. Having said that, our room was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was close to Kilkenny Castle as well as many restaurants and shops, and we enjoyed our stay.

We have just spent two nights in the Club House, such a beautiful hotel, full of warmth and charming character! We loved it, the staff are so friendly from the minute we arrived, thanks to Ian and his wonderful staff! And also to Dave the fab barman! Will definitely return soon!

We loved the old world charm of this historic hotel. Our room was cool enough to sleep (end of sept) with the window open(to a garden: VERY quiet) & with a small fan provided. We were in rm 36 which was on the top(3rd) floor & while there is no elevator, the steps are not steep at all, so easy climb up. The bathroom has liquid soap dispensers at the sink & in the shower. Also: small bottles of shampoo & hair conditioner. The entire property was very clean & had multiple public rooms where you could sit. Also, off of the bar area there is access to the front terrace with tables & chairs with umbrellas where you can sit & ppl watch (on a Main Street) without obligation to buy anything at the bar! So the bar: 6.50€ pints & quite active…also has tables near a fireplace:) books in a room off the bar. location: PERFECT! 10 min walk from train, convenience store 1 min, dunnes grocery with 5€ takeaway pizza(!) 5 min walk. The Field pub 3 min which was SO much fun! Live music started early ~ 6:30ish & SO entertaining with getting the crowd involved/ interacting with & singing along!! Staff held luggage after checkout..we wanted to stay a 2nd nt but fully booked so we moved down the rd. Loved kilkenney!

A seedy, grubby hotel in need of complete refurbishment to update it's 1960s decor. We were charged over €220 for one night. That included the use of a communal ironing board/iron in the corridor. My wife had difficulty sleeping as she was worried about a fire engulfing the wooden maze of stairs.
