Decided to try here for a Sunday Roast dinner. all in all it was nice , although not much meat and two tiny roast potatoes , ( big disappointment as its an important part of the Roast enough gravy and nice Yorkshire puddings . Staff were nice and friendly

A lovely visit to this historic inn. The Sunday roast was substantial and delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. My husband thought the vegetables could have been cooked for longer but I like my vegetables al dente and I’m writing this so ….. We look forward to returning.

Could not fault the staf, location, food but the decor is stuck in the past just a few tweaks here and there could give the rooms a more modern look. Silver/purple/sparkles so outdated carpet was gray and threadbare we paid for an upgrade and if this was the best room i would hate to see the others

Stayed here with an Itison deal which included 2 course evening dinner and breakfast. It is quite an old hotel, however this gives it some charm. Room comfortable enough though and very quiet - slept really well. The evening meal was superb. Had sesame honey chicken for a starter and a smash burger which were both delicious. Decent breakfast too. Service was excellent with particular shout out to Martin for his friendliness and great hospitality.

Was here for a return visit for Mother's Day. I've been here several times, and unfortunately, it's not consistent with food standards. Booked in advance as liked look of Mother's Day menu. Sadly, it wasn't great. The chicken starter overcooked. Had roast, which was good, but as the previous visit had to ask for gravy. Service friendly but did wait to be seated longer than normal. Reason we won't return, probably this and the £13 charge for a large glass wine.

Excellent lunch, outstanding service, spotless rest rooms - wonderful staff! This is a special place indeed! highly recommended, this is run to the highest standard and the cleanliness of the rest rooms was apparent. Our waiter was outstanding - this can run rings round many other city establishments. Highly recommend....

Although we were early at the Hotel, James received us with a warm and helpful welcome and offered breakfast although the restaurant had closed. We had a well-cooked breakfast of scrambled egg with smoked salmon (my wife) and a bacon sandwich (me) which is what we asked for. He came with extra toast and jam with tea and coffee. Couldn't have been any more helpful.
