We arrived at around 6:30 from Sweden with the ferry. After checking in we went to the restaurant to have dinner as se had a light lunch. To our surprise, after a long wait, we manage to get hold of the head waiter, who informed us that it was not possible to have a table - the hotel is faaar out with no alternate restarunts, dispate that it looked as it was a lot of empty space in the restaurant. The reception offered to call to some town nearby to make us a reservation for us. Some time later we were told that we could have a table at 8 pm which we found fare enough. At 8 we went up to the restaurant, after some wait we grab a personal and yes, table no 6 was for our disposal. As there were no menu, we asked what to eat and was offered the buffet. But they would clean out the buffe in 7(!) minutes. We left hungry that night. We have made some travel through the years but this was some experience. We checked out next morning, dispate 2 days booking. It was certainly a never-again-experience, kind of east germany experience. You have been warned, this was not a cheep hotel, just very unfriendly.. Normally we always check tripadvisor before picking a hotel. For some reason, there has been no reviews since 2018, pity!

The Dormero Hotel Rügen is located in the historic KdF building on the southern beach section of Prora. You can conveniently arrive by train. The Prora East train station is a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The apartment hotel is a mix of apartment and hotel. It is surprised by its generous design - both for the public areas of the hotel (flure, fitness center, swimming pool, sauna and rest room) and for the individual rooms. The rooms are very well maintained and modern and are ideal for self-service. I have been guest three times for short stays in different types of rooms - I always liked it very well. The rooms on the sea side are mainly with balcony and a lot of morning sun and sea noise. But also the rooms on the back side have their advantages - even more quiet and a lot of evening sun. At all, I always felt very well and uninterested in this hotel - so you can get well. The hotel staff is very friendly and premature. When check-in, it takes a lot of time for one - sometimes you are also brought to the room personally - you are really happy to have the sympathetic hotel staff for questions and wishes. I always like to come back.

Just returned home from a 4 night stay at Hotel Merkur. I had taken my 3 Children on a Monday to Friday holiday to celebrate their milestone Birthdays, my twins turned 21 and my other daughter celebrating her 40th. I chose this hotel because of the reviews of how friendly the hotel staff were and all the personal touches they provided, such as, bottle of bubbly on arrival and homemade Jam and/or marmalade as a leaving gift. Sadly we saw nothing of this despite me emailing them beforehand to inform them of our reason for the holiday. The room we had been given was 002 and although very basic, we had a great bathroom. The windows looked on to a wall so not much daylight in the room, but we were okay with this as it kept the room cool and we didn't plan to be in all that much. Not wanting to be negative, but... on arrival all we were given was the key and told where our room could be found, no welcome pack or even information about the hotel facilities etc. (We only found out on the last day that they had a courtyard we could have used and that they sold soft drinks at recetion.) The room didn't even have tea/coffee making equipment, which we found very unusual and disappointing. The last straw for us was, when checking out was asked if we had taken anything from the mini bar to which I replied ”what mini bar?” ”The one in your room” eh??? We didn't have a mini bar!! Left us thinking we must have had the worst room in the hotel and we felt like second class guests. On the positive side the towels and bedding were changed daily and the breakfast was good. Oh, I forgot to mention, my daughter came back to the hotel when I was asleep and didn't want to knock the door too loud in case it disturbed other guests, si asked us she could be let in and was told they didn't have another key, so she sat in reception. Eh???!!!. I loved Prague and will definitely go back, but not to Hotel Merkur.

Dieses Hotel ist eine perfekte Mogelpackung, denn es ist weder ein Resort noch ein 4 - Sterne Hotel. Wir haben hier für 3 Tage knapp 1000 Euro ausgegeben und ich habe mich noch nie so über einen Hotelaufenthalt so geärgert wie über diesen. Erst mal die positiven Sachen: Unser Zimmer im Haupthaus war neu modernisiert, sauber, groß und sehr schön, Reinigung erfolgte täglich und war tadellos. Frühstücksbuffet umfangreich und ohne Beanstandungen. Ruhige Lage, man kann auch sagen - sehr abgeschieden. Sehr schöne, einladende Lobby, geschmackvoll eingerichtet- Nun zu den negativen Erfahrungen. Es gibt keine richtige Rezeption in der Lobby, bei Anreise muss man erst mal den Mitarbeiter suchen, der einen eincheckt. Rezeptionspersonal sowohl bei der Anreise als auch bei der Abreise pampig und genervt. Der Service ist einfach absolut unterirdisch. Im Restaurant sprechen viele der Bedienungen kein Deutsch. Die wenigen, die wirklich arbeiten, rennen sich den Allerwertesten ab, der Rest steht rum und sieht nicht, wo Not am Mann ist. Mangels anderer Alternativen hatten wir Halbpension gebucht, welche als 3-Gänge-Menü angeboten wurde, zwischen allen Gängen vergingen allerdings mindestens 40 Minuten, bevor der nächste Gang serviert wurde. Essen zwar sehr schön angerichtet, aber qualitativ nicht immer dem Preis entsprechend. Im Hotel waren viele Familien mit mit Kleinkindern untergebracht. Neben dem entsprechenden Lärmpegel fuhren Kinder abends im Restaurant mit dem Bobbycar durch die Gegend oder spielten zwischen den Tischen Fangen. Der „Spa“- Bereich besteht aus einem kleinen Pool, der dringend saniert werden müsste und 2 kleinen Saunen. Im gesamten Saunabereich standen 2! Ruheliegen, für mehr ist kein Platz, da auch noch ein großer Kärcher in der Ecke des Ruhbereich geparkt wurde. Das Hotel hat keine Klimaanlage, und bei einer Außentemperatur von 20 Grad war es nachts dennoch sehr warm im Zimmer. Man konnte aber nur ein Fenster öffnen, das mit dem Fliegengitter, alle anderen muss man zulassen, da das Hotel von sehr sehr viele Spinnen heimgesucht wird, die man sonst im Zimmer hat. Dass es keinen wirklichen Strand gibt, sondern nur einen winzigen, mit Seetang versehenen, schmalen Zugang zum Wasser, hat uns jetzt weniger gestört, allerdings fahren viele der Gäste daher lieber mit dem Auto zu einem „richtigen“ Ostseestrand, der allerdings 22 km entfernt ist. Alles in Allem waren es die 270 Euro pro Nacht absolut nicht wert, wir werden dieses Hotel nicht mehr buchen und es auch auf keinen Fall weiter empfehlen.
