After a nice tour of the south (Berat, Sarande,Gjirokaster) spend 4 days at Sol Tropical. A family member traveling from Switzerland had booked there so it was a bit predetermined for us The facility definitely shows the age. The rooms are nice, the pools are nice and that’s about it. The employers are hit and miss, mostly nice, but they cannot compensate for the shortcomings of the facilities. Most of the kitchen people tried to help with my daughter’s allergies, some had no clue what a food allergy is, but overall we felt comfortable. Since it is a bit out of the way, and you need a taxi to get out ( the only taxi in the grounds charged 10k each way for 1.5 kilometers and the taximeter would never turn on) we decided to buy the all inclusive package for 4 people. At 5 pm that when we arrived. July 1st through July 4th. So a dinner for the 7/1 and breakfast for 7/4. Less than 3 days. Apparently you can’t pay for 3 days you have to pay for 5, otherwise you have to eat out. Since I have been in many countries before in regular and all inclusive resorts, I went ahead and payed for it It was worth it, in a strange way! The restaurant room reminded me of my military days, very spartan, looked more like a nursing home dinner than a resort, nothing to match the price - but made me travel back in time which was appreciated . The food my godness, it was not tasty, and the meat cuts in general were good only if you work out and had to work your chewing muscles. The grounds are not kept, the entertainment was nonexistent and for the love of God you could have put a TV somewhere so people could watch the Euro 2024, since you were too cheap to offer it on the room TV channels At least they were open to suggestion, when they removed the rusty nail from tree trunks sticking out at kids’ head level! And Marco, please don’t worry about answering and posting a corporate stamped response, what you are going to do to improve, will not help me. With the extra money we paid for the food we never could consume as a family, pay an Albanian language teacher to give your crew a crash course in Albanian or English, cause I saw a lot of people unable to communicate with the staff All the best

We spent 10 days at Sol Tropikal in Durrës and left with plenty of great memories. The resort offers clean, modern rooms, beautiful landscaping, and fun activities for all ages. While there were a few downsides – such as the lack of proper air conditioning, issues with the beach facilities, and one less helpful staff member – the overall experience was very positive. For the price we paid, it was well worth it, and we’re already recommending it to friends and colleagues. We’d love to return in the future! The rooms: Clean and modern furniture. Our queen sized bed had pillows that were perfectly firm, with a proper filled duvet. The bathroom was beautiful and modern, with sand tiled walls and floor, and a walk-in shower with a rain shower head. Most rooms have a neatly sized balcony, with two simple chairs and a table. There was also a minibar, sofabed, and dressers, plus hangers - so plenty of storage spaces for your clothes. There was also a smart-TV. However, the smart TV produces an awful high-pitched sound when on standby, so I recommend unplugging it when it's not in use. There was also a kettle, and complimentary teabags + instant coffee. No iron. House keeping cleaned our room every day, but only changed our bed once during our 10 day long stay. Recommendations for improvements: The only minus was that there is only a central ventilation system, and no airconditioning in our room. There was a panel which looked like it, but I believe that only was for the bathroom. As we were there only in May, when the temperatures had not yet peaked 24 degrees, I can only imagine how hot the rooms may become during the summer months. The pool area: Very aesthetically constructed. Plenty of comfortable sun beds, with a children's pool and an adult's pool. There is a pool bar at the end. For all-inclusive guests, drinks are included. For regulars, it may be a bit pricy. We opted mostly to just purchase our soft drinks at the supermarket located on the right side of the big building at the other side of the roundabout outside the hotel. Recommendations for improvements: The pool bar did not offer food (despite the online menu mentioning there is a charcoal bbq). Loud club music from the bar was a minor annoyance, especially for my grandmother. This is, however, something I believe is a cultural thing in Albania, as we experienced this everywhere. There also appeared to be a problem with some of the water fountains in the children's pool, as the water often ended up turning in the wrong direction, flooding the sun bed area. There is also no life guard, so you need to have an extra watchful eye for your kids and little ones. The private beach: The beach has a lot of potensial and room for improvement. Some days, the sun beds and umbrellas were scattered everywhere, with very few actually being usable. The beach bar appeared to be totally abandoned, and there was an unserviced lifeguard tower. The beach itself was clean of trash, but there was a lot of

Some of the hotel has been renovated, the pool area is modern and elevated with nice views of the sea in the background. The rooms were modern and recently built, although they could be cleaner. Other parts of the resort we're clearly being rebuilt / renovated, which was a shame. The beach is private although quite small and a bit dirty, it needs some maintenance and attention. The biggest let down is the food, the buffet food is all quite bland and tasteless, it is also very cold, even if you are the first to go in for breakfast or dinner. The Italian food at the Citarella restaurant is much better but still not as nice as authentic Italian cuisine. We upgraded to all-inclusive for €38 per person, per night, but in reality we did not gain much. There is a lack of availability of snacks in between lunch and dinner, despite it specifying they would be available, often we were hungry and found ourselves braced for dinner at 7:30pm sharp like all the other guests. On the app, website and in person they also said there would be a BBQ / available at the Breeze beach bar but there was no food available which compounded our disappointment with the food.

We have just come back from a lovely 7 days, the best thing about the staff are the entertainment team, Sophia, Ash and Michael, we had great fun with all different games and quizzes you put on on. The staff are all lovely and will go above and beyond. Not so good was the food and we are glad that we are only B&B, cold food and only one coffee machine working at breakfast. We managed to get the cook to make us fresh fried eggs in the morning so we did not have to eat the cold ones and we did pay for the Italian restaurant which had nice food. Shame you have to pay extra to use the other pool and think it would be good if it is included as a facility to everyone. Hotel just needs a little TLC but overall we had a lovely week and some lovely restaurants out and about and the bus from outside the hotel is excellent.

On the site, you would think this is a lovely establishment based on the reviews and photos. WRONG ! firstly, the reception is a walkthrough at a backend. If you have luggage, you must drive. It isn’t adults only so keep that in mind. On arrival, I was soooo disappointed. Building is old and rundown. Breakfast included was the main highlight as the food was decent. They don’t have any bellboys to assist with luggage. Thankfully one of the ladies at reception offered to help but was struggling. On arrival to our building I was flabbergasted at how old and rundown it was. Bleach stains in the carpet and wasn’t vacuumed. Mold around the shower and sink. very outdated styled bathroom. I requested another room but were told they were fully booked and to check back the next day after 3pm. Pool and breakfast was really the only thing that deserves 3 stars. The beach is very dirty and polluted on this side. You cannot walk along the beach as it is closed off by barbed wire fences. Absolutely NOT what was advertised. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ELSEWHERE !!

My family and I spent 7 nights at Sol Tropikal Durrës on our first trip to Albania. We booked directly with the hotel and they were excellent with corresponding with me when I was booking a taxi for the airport (€35 one way using their dedicated resort taxi). Check in was a breeze with the lovely Jona and Esmerelda, who were amazing with our 5 year old. The Verbena Restaurant was where breakfast, lunch and dinner were served. The food was good, but did become quite repetitive through the week. We were disappointed to learn that the A-la-Carte restaurant was not included in the all-inclusive, but we were given 2 vouchers to use for lunch and dinner (these dining opportunities must be booked in advance). The dining experience was okay - it got very busy at lunchtimes especially as the window for food was shorter, and there was often a wait for food from the buffet. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice. Dinner was okay, some nights the food was impressive, but other nights there seemed to be a shortage of food. A huge thank you to Megi, Irini, Samanta and the other table staff for being amazing and again, so good with our daughter, especially on her birthday! Our daughter took full advantage of the kids club during our time at Sol Tropikal. The crew at Kidom, Erika (Kika), Habiba and Luna - they were amazing and kept the children entertained during the sessions. They would often also come and join the children in the pool and play with them. The Pool was beautiful- lovely and cool when the heat was getting too much. Daily activities and the "Crazy Game" were good fun and the half hour of dancing and music in the pool each morning and evening was funny! A huge shout to Mateo the DJ for his playlist... I still have Hey Baby on repeat in my head! The beach and sea were lovely - soft sand and clean waters and plenty of sunbeds. In the evening time, there was a nightly "Baby Disco" for the kids. This was lots of fun and led by the entertainment team. A special mention to the other Mateo for being so lovely and friendly from day one, and the amazing Andrea - who's energy, attitude and general vibe was just a joy to be around. Your smile was never ending and you were a pleasure to meet and get to know over the week! Another mention to the housekeeping team who were brilliant and nothing was too much bother. Overall, we had an incredible week at Sol Tropikal. Our only points for improvement would be: - more variety on the buffet and maybe think of expanding the timings of the lunchtime session - clearer marketing over the Citronella and Fins Bar that they are NOT included in the all-inclusive package - more water fountain points around the resort, for example, on each floor of the hotel so that guests can access drinking water readily. Other notes : We stayed in a Sea View Room which looked out onto the pool and the beach, with beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding Durrës coastline. We opted for the all-inclusive packag

Really nice and affordable seafood meal. The place looks awesome and had nice vibes. The restaurant is close to the pool and there’s music playing in the background. Our waiter Klindi Hasko was very welcoming and catered to our needs. Will definitely come back :)

We arrived on 25th May at 11pm in to the hotel to find rowdy people filling the lobby, the lobby bar full of noise and an extremely unwelcoming atmosphere when trying to check in. It had been raining so we assumed that this was the reason why everyone was inside, and tried to put the is behind us. In fairness, this was not the case again throughout the week so did seem to be a one off, but did not set our week off well. We arrived with two friends and their baby, and asked for some bottled water to make baby bottles, and was told these are not included with our All Inclusive package, and were directed to a water fountain… with no way of transporting the water to our rooms. Thankfully we had some empty Coke bottles from the airport and proceeded to fill these to ensure the baby could have some milk that night, before we were able to purchase some at a local store. We went up to our rooms and our friends found that their room had no cot bed… and upon reporting it to reception was asked to wait until the morning to sort it out as it was now nearing midnight. There suggestion being no bed for one of their booked guests, listed as an infant on the booking… My husband also discovered that our balcony door did not lock, and this was reported to reception who asked if we could also address this in the morning, taking our room number yet nothing was ever mentioned again about it. The next day we went down to breakfast and were greeted with uncleared tables, all unwiped tables and dirty high chairs - a theme that continued throughout the week. This was also true of the lobby, where every morning you would be greeted with tables scattered in empty glasses from the night before. There didn’t seem to be anyone proactively tidying and clearing in any space of the resort. Upon returning to our room after being by the pool all day on our first day, the bedroom door was wide open from the corridor, seemingly it hadn’t caught the latch as housekeeping left the room, which is a mistake but one that is avoidable nonetheless. The room itself was clean and tidy otherwise but we did not opt for housekeeping the remainder of our week in fear the same would happen again. When reporting this to reception they simply asked ‘Well is anything missing?’ The food was mediocre and the buffet highlight had to be the morning pastries! We ate out more times than not in our ‘All Inclusive’ week as a result, but luckily the Boardwalk one bus stop away was fabulous with some amazing well priced eateries. The bus was also about 35p per person, and could take you all the way in to the centre of Durrës for that one fare price. We did use it daily to go one stop up from the hotel; and cut through to the boardwalk, which is beautiful at night. Back at the hotel, we used our one voucher to eat in the sit down restaurant for our three course meal on our last day, but having heard bad things about it all week we didn’t have much hope. Even simply booking the table was not a smooth pr
