The Cavalier Inn

The pub offers a really lovely, decently priced Carvery on a Wednesday night and Sunday lunch time. They offer a good mix of meat and vegetables; take your pick. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. It's so good to have somewhere else to eat in Town. Will be going back to support local pubs!

Cavalier pub is by far the best carvery around , lovely new Owners, friendly staff. Choice of meat is great even if I always go for the turkey, so many veggies , the red cabbage is gorgeous, always have my fav parsnips ! Wednesday eve & Sundays for carvery , will never tire of it

Staff were superb and friendly from bar staff to kitchen staff and management (Natalie and Matthew), Visited on an extremely busy lunchtime and everyone couldn’t help enough. Fantastic atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Food was absolutely delicious and portions were very generous. Excellent gravy!!!

Wow!!! What a find!!! Even in this low season there still a lovely atmosphere with both the landlord and lady making an appearance. We popped in hoping for some quick food as staying close and there pub on site was closed. My husband had the beef curry the meat fell apart in your mouth definitely gave our curry houses a run for there money. I just had the sausage and mash was cooked perfectly and because of how good the gravy was we have re-booked for tomorrow roast ☺️ Please can you come to where we live and show our pubs how it is done!!! Fantastic food, great atmosphere amazing choice of draft beers and amazing friendly face!!!!and not break the bank.

My family is on holiday in Devon and decided to drive out for a while to randomly pick a pub for dinner. We were getting concerned because we'd forgotten how rural the area is and didn't find one for ages. We were happy to spot the Cavalier Inn and parked up. Then was the big question...do they let dogs in? Yes!!! Phew! We were shown to our table by a very friendly lady, ordered drinks and were given menus. It's a lovely what I would call 'proper' pub. Well, what can say, the food was fabulous! I had Sweet Chilli Chicken and chips which was a huge portion in a bowl of salad with the chips separate. Huge crispy chunky chips! Hubbie had lamb shank and my sons had various burgers. The staff were lovely and prices were so good compared to the more touristy areas we have been. Defo call in if you are in the area.

Excellent food, great staff and a lovely pub. We had a take away as this was easier for us as my sister is in a wheelchair. I went to check accessibility and apart from a very small step, we could both go in together. We will definitely be going in for a meal.
