This hotel was rebranded, so it wasn't originally designed as a Holiday Inn Express. Overall, the hotel has made some effort to align with the standardized Holiday Inn Express value proposition, but in many aspects, it still doesn't feel like a true IHG property. Firstly, points crediting is extremely slow; to this day, not only has my order disappeared from my member account, but the points haven't been credited either. Perhaps integrating systems is still a challenge for newly joined hotels. Secondly, the hotel's towels don't feel familiar; they likely continued using the old towels from before the rebranding to save costs. Breakfast, generally speaking, was decent and edible, as you can't expect much more at this price point. A commendable point is that breakfast starts early enough, and the hotel staff were very attentive to whether there were guests needing to catch flights in the breakfast area. However, regarding member benefits, while the basic complimentary snack for members is generous, the hotel is very stingy with room upgrades, even when told it was only a stay of a few hours. I was informed of a room upgrade, but it seems there might only have been a difference in floor, or a smaller room was given to the member. This is a significant difference compared to many more generous Holiday Inn Express properties. The airport shuttle service was very smooth if you're departing from Guangzhou Airport Terminal 1 or 2, which is convenient. However, if you need to go to Terminal 3, you have to first go to Terminal 1 or 2 and then take the airport shuttle bus, which is not ideal. Overall, it has its merits but also some regrettable aspects. Nevertheless, if it's just for catching an early flight, it's manageable.
