Stayed here while moving our daughter into residence at U of G and booked here as they had a discounted rate for being U of G parent and hot breakfast included with your stay. This hotel is in the industrial part of town and there are no restaurants within walking distance (per front desk at check in). It is a 10-15 minute drive to the university depending on traffic. The room itself was clean but there were some maintenance issues. An outlet by the couch only had one functioning plug. The shower leaks all over the bathroom floor behind the toilet due to poor design and having a fabric shower curtain that won’t stick to the wall to form a seal. The bathroom door is very difficult to open and shut and has either shifted or has swollen due to moisture. The tub fills with water while showering so the drain obviously needs to be cleaned quite badly. Kitchen is small in size but functional for one person at a time. Fridge and microwave were clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable and were double size (as advertised). The couch was NOT a pull out even though it said that it would be on our booking. Breakfast was served in takeaway containers due to covid and while it was not great, it was edible. Kids booked to use the pool but it was so cold they didn’t enjoy it. It doesn’t appear to be heated. Not sure if this is due to covid and lack of use or what but it also needed to be cleaned. My daughter used the gym the one morning and said there were cobwebs on some of the equipment and there was only one 35 pound dumbbell. There was one treadmill, an elliptical and one bike. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There was no housekeeping due to covid but they would supply extra garbage bags, you put your bagged garbage in the hall and they were pretty quick to remove it. Overall I would consider staying here again for a long term stay simply for the convenience of the kitchen. If I was coming for the weekend only though I would stay closer to the university for convenience.

***** WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER ***** I have now witnessed the most incompetent guest service at a hotel ever. My background is Hotels. I worked at Claridges one of the most prestigious five star hotels in London England with Gordon Ramsey as our executive chef. I also worked as the head concierge at The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff as some examples. We were trained properly to go above and beyond a guests expectations. Upon arrival we waited over two and a half hours to get checked in as we were the only ones there at the time. Unfortunately due to the horrible management of this property they left a new team member on the front desk that had only been working there for a week. (complete failure on their part) He was absolutely lost and even said while he was dealing with me that he was going to have a heart attack or commit suicide after his shift. He was so flustered trying to get any kind of help from management on the phone. Finally the night auditor showed up and was able to check-in the backlog of guests sitting around the lobby. We had a confirmed booking for 2 Queens beds and upon our arrival into our room it was a king and sofa bed. I went back down to the lobby and they said that they would deal with it in the morning as the manager would get back to me about the room and our experience the night before. (I'd also just had back surgery 5 weeks prior) Our rate for the two Queens was 169 per night. After a Week (not the next day as promised) I finally received a call from the hotel operations manager Nalini Cackryanathen about my experience. She explained I would also not qualify for the 169 as we had a king bed and would have to pay 229 instead? ***? WE BOOKED AND HAD CONFIRMED TWO QUEEN BEDS with a confirmation number. In the end they offered a free night voucher to the hotel - NO CHANCE WE WILL GO BACK EVEN FOR FREE. I asked for the owners email so I could explain what is going on in his hotel and they refused saying he's not hands on and isn't really interested in the daily operations of his property? 🤯 I guess it comes from the top down!

I had an overnight stay here and while the staff were very friendly, the hotel lacked. It is located near a more industrial area so while there are nearby restaurants (Wendy’s, Tim’s, Ben Thanh, etc), it didn’t feel welcoming. When we visited, there was a hockey tournament happening and so most of the hotel rooms had kids and their parents. We ended up with a ground floor king suite that looked out to the parking lot. So, it was a long walk past the front desk, past the hotel laundry (and the smell of bleach), the cleaning supplies room, and hotel laundry before getting to our room. The bed was comfy and the room was spacious. It felt odd as when the curtains were open, we just saw cars parking and people coming and going. The floor had smalls bits of debris on it, so it clearly had not been vacuumed recently. That made me wonder about the cleanliness of other areas. They seemed clean, but if the floor was not done, then other areas could have been easily skipped too. Breakfast was the usual hotel buffet. The coffee was terrible, but the self-made waffles were good.

Alas, this trip to the western regions of Ontario was plagued by distant hotels that, in spite of the smallness of the towns in which they were located, nevertheless seemed much further into the outer regions than most travelers would venture. This place had nice staff and a great free breakfast buffet, but another problem was that the TV was either broken or I couldn't figure out how to get it working. The free internet was good enough for me to do a Zoom meeting. Attached is a picture of how far out there it was located!
