guesthouses in York

"A wonderful hotel in York, just a 10-minute walk from the Minster. We loved the charming local bakery next door—fresh bread and delicious coffee every morning were a real treat. The host was incredibly friendly and gave us great tips on what to see around the city. The highlight was the well-equipped pantry, which made it easy to store food and prepare light meals during our stay. We’ll definitely be back!"

"Thank you for a lovely stay. The room was clean and the service from staff was friendly and accommodating. I feel that perhaps some of the amenities are a little lower than expected of a 4-star hotel, such as the radio and no mini fridge. The room also got very warm, but that's to be expected from such an old building and the fan was useful. Otherwise, it was a comfortable stay in a very convenient location."

"We had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us."

"Ascott Hotel, feel the warmth and beauty of home The most surprising discovery of this trip to York was staying at the Ascot Hotel! The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and you can feel the strong atmosphere of life when you step into this area. On both sides of the street are neat English-style huts, the front and back of the house are dotted with blooming flowers, strolling among them, as if in a quiet pastoral picture. When checking in, I saw the 80-year-old landlord’s wife, who smiled and was kind and her eyes were full of kindness and enthusiasm. While going through the formalities, she introduced me to the attractions near York in detail, from the magnificent York Cathedral to the historical butcher street, she was like a few treasures, and also intimately told me how to take public transportation and which places are suitable for taking pictures. Listening to her, I am looking forward to the next trip. The room is even more bright, the layout is warm and elegant, and the intention is displayed everywhere. What surprised me most was the soft bed, lying on it as if it were trapped in the clouds, and the fatigue of the day disappeared instantly. There are also exquisite snacks and fragrant coffee at the bedside. When you are tired, you can return to the room, eat a snack, drink a cup of coffee, and feel happy! The breakfast link is a must! Unlike the buffet form of ordinary hotels, the current method is used here, and the category is rich and dazzling. Classic English breakfast, each is exquisite and delicious. Fresh ingredients, careful cooking, excellent taste, provide sufficient energy for a full day. This stay was great! Ascot Hotel is not only a place to stay, but also let me feel the warmth of home and local enthusiasm. Highly recommend to every friend who comes to York!"

"Amazing customer service, very comfortable bed, all clean. Although it was a small room, it felt very cozy and the house feels like you are a guest visiting a distant relative. The view was gorgeous and great location too!"
