Kempinski Hotel Guiyang

An established 5-star hotel with facilities featuring a classic European, retro style. That said, everything is clean and tidy. The staff are warm, welcoming, and very responsive. Great location—it's very close to Jiaxiu Tower and Minsheng Road, both within easy walking distance.

It's hard to put into words. I stayed for two nights in total. The first night, the bed collapsed. Since it was already midnight when I arrived, I had no choice but to sleep on the sofa, while my child slept on the bed. The toilet fan made a rattling noise, and it wasn't soundproof! When I reported it the next day, the hotel's first reaction was to ask if I was injured from the collapsed bed! They claimed to have upgraded me and moved me to a different room. Thinking it was just for one more night, I decided to make do. But when I returned to the hotel that evening, they had 'upgraded' me from an executive floor room to a smaller, standard floor room! The facilities were worse, the room was smaller, and there was a spooky, empty room! What in the world! Even worse, the hallway lights flickered on and off! The breakfast was also garbage, supposedly 'beef noodles'! It was just a pot of beef broth. I had to ask three or four times, and they didn't refill it for half an hour, trying to make one pot last the whole breakfast time. I understand beef is expensive, but even the cheap pickled vegetables weren't refilled for half an hour despite repeated requests! Finally, Ctrip, you need to step up! This hotel is listed as renovated in 2024? Who approved this listing, who added that annotation? What was renovated in 2024? The slippers? The toothbrush? Or the duvet? The walls, the furniture, the wallpaper, the air conditioning – if any of those were renovated in 2024, I'll eat my hat! I've been a loyal user for many years, and this is the first time I've ever given such a review!

I stayed on a middle floor and the city view was quite good. It's also relatively close to Jiaxiu Tower, and shopping in the surrounding commercial area is convenient. The hotel's decor is a bit old-fashioned, but the cleanliness and service were both decent. My only complaint is that the air conditioning would turn on every few minutes and blow air, creating a lot of noise which affected my sleep. The buffet breakfast had a good variety, and the taste was okay.

This is a venerable German hotel brand, and the brand itself is a guarantee of quality. The room was surprisingly new and bright, so it must have been recently renovated and upgraded. The location is super excellent, with Wenchang Pavilion and Jiaxiu Tower both within walking distance. We chose the Octonauts themed family room, and the two large plush toys were a huge hit with our child; they absolutely loved them and couldn't put them down. From the high floor, we had a magnificent view overlooking the city of Guiyang!

Great location—just a short walk downstairs to the food street and Jiaxiu Tower. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of Guiyang's old town right from the room. The service was excellent as well, with very prompt responses.

The hotel facilities are a bit old, and the elevators often take a long time to arrive and are crowded. The breakfast was terrible (it's hard to make Guiyang beef noodles taste so bad, and the fruit selection was also very limited), with no variety over my four-day stay. The room was spacious, but the light in the narrow hallway leading to the entrance only turned on the first time I opened the door upon check-in; after that, it stayed dark. The showerhead in the bathroom was positioned too high and easily bumped into me. I've stayed at the Sofitel next door before, and compared to this hotel, I highly recommend the Sofitel!

The hotel is too old. I was stunned as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. Which five-star hotel has such low ceilings? The room decor looks like it was renovated twenty years ago. Because of its age, I had to close the bathroom door at night while sleeping due to a urine smell.

The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient to hail a taxi. The service is also on point, with very enthusiastic staff. The breakfast offers a wide variety, but the noodles were unappetizing, not even as good as local street food. The fried dough sticks and hash browns were a bit cold and hard. One thing I didn't understand: what's the difference between a Deluxe Room and a Panoramic Deluxe Room on Trip.com, besides the price? Both are listed as being on floors 29 to 46, and the rooms seem identical. Trip.com states that the Panoramic room offers views of Jiaxiu Tower, but the hotel said not all panoramic rooms have that view. The price difference seems a bit inexplicable...

The location is excellent, with many great food options nearby and several attractions within walking distance. While the room facilities are a bit old, they are well-maintained. The bathroom is a little small, but the bed is quite comfortable, and the view is decent. The service, however, is a bit hard to pinpoint. There seemed to be staff everywhere, but no one was particularly enthusiastic, which is a bit unusual for a major international hotel chain.
