Anantara Guiyang Resort

I chose this hotel because of its brand name, but my experience from the front desk to the room to the restaurant was terrible! Although the price wasn't high, the quality was surprisingly bad! The front desk staff seemed unfamiliar with their duties, causing multiple back-and-forths before I could check in. The bedding in the room was poor, and the hygiene was concerning, with significant stains on the duvet. The Thai restaurant was even worse; the prices were comparable to brand-name Thai restaurants in Shanghai, and they charged a 10% service fee, which would have been fine, but the ingredients were incredibly subpar! The only place where I experienced branded service was during breakfast, which offered a rich variety of dishes and professional, responsible staff.

This hotel has a Southeast Asian style, and the rooms are clean with excellent service. Special shoutout to our butler, NIA, who provided very attentive service and left us with a great impression. This hotel is definitely worth revisiting multiple times!

This five-star hotel feels very old and run-down. The sink was dirty, and the floor was sticky. The front desk service was subpar; when I asked if I could add breakfast for my child, they seemed annoyed and told me to ask the butler. I've stayed in many hotels of this caliber, and with this kind of service, this hotel can only go downhill. The breakfast area was incredibly crowded! Honestly, I had no desire to stay any longer.

The toilet wasn't electric and the flush wasn't very effective. The balcony had no view at all (perhaps because I booked a basic room). Breakfast was very mediocre, with limited options and not very tasty. The hotel felt quite large, taking a while to walk to the room, but I didn't feel there were many facilities or attractive landscapes. I even walked around the public areas specifically, but still found no nice views. The outdoor pool is only open for two hours in the afternoon, and it's very shallow, more like a foot bath. On my first night, when I arrived late, there was vomit at the elevator entrance. I heard it had just happened, but it still affected my mood and experience. The overall decor of the hotel felt a bit dated. I came here because it's one of only two properties of this brand in the country, but I didn't get any Southeast Asian resort vibes. I'm curious why they haven't created more attractive landscapes; it seems odd. I thought being further from the city it would be bigger and more unique. Of course, the positives are that the price isn't too expensive and the room isn't small. If you like staying in large hotels, you might enjoy it here.

The room was quite spacious, and the pool water was a bit cold, but they offered a free extra bed. The environment was very good and there were plenty of activities.

The hotel environment was average, and the kids' play area was quite basic. We were assigned a room on the 6th floor which was extremely damp, making our stay very uncomfortable. The hotel later moved us to another room, but the facilities were quite old, and there was a lot of noise from outside the room.

The room came with a large courtyard. With various insects chirping and birds singing, the beauty of nature was truly captivating. Apple, the manager, was incredibly thoughtful and attentive, upgrading my room and showing great care. The hotel itself is like a large garden with beautiful scenery. It's also very convenient, with plenty of restaurants just a 10-minute taxi ride away. I highly recommend staying here!

The hotel grounds are quite spacious, but apart from being large, there isn't much to praise about the garden view; the design is rather ordinary. 1. For a five-star hotel, it feels remarkably stingy. For such an expensive room rate, the mini-bar was completely empty. Honestly, a few cans of Coke or Sprite might not get drunk, but it's the gesture that counts. There weren't even any welcome fruits, something even a basic guesthouse provides. How can a big hotel be so dismissive of these small touches? 2. As a family-focused hotel, it's expected to have many children, but the swimming pool water was so murky it was uninviting. The hotel should consider adult guests more, perhaps by dedicating a separate lane. Plus, the outdoor pool closes quite early. Overall, for adults without children, the pool is practically useless. 3. Our flight was canceled late at night due to a typhoon, forcing us to rebook an earlier flight. We had to leave first thing in the morning. We had breakfast included, so we went to the breakfast area to ask for some food to go. The manager said we could only take simple items like eggs and bread, nothing else. Why? We paid extra for breakfast in our room rate, why are we restricted to just a few items? The restaurant manager then said we could take a little more, but only if we signed an agreement to avoid disputes… and we had to list everything we wanted to take. We were already in a rush, and then they gave us two small boxes, following us the whole time. In the end, just as she said, it was a very small amount. I really don't understand this policy. Many children, who don't even pay for breakfast, waste food by eating half and discarding half, with no one supervising. Yet, paying guests who genuinely need it are treated this way? 4. The buffet dinner was terrible value for money. Apart from some tiny crayfish, there was hardly anything else worth eating! While it's a good family hotel that's kid-friendly, as an adult looking for a relaxing vacation, you'll feel largely overlooked here.
