I'm writing this review sitting under a tree, with cicadas singing chatting to a bunch of lovely people I only met yesterday, drinking an ice cold efes. I've never been to Gumbet before, and to be fair it's far more of a party place than I personally like, but this little gem of a hotel has more than made up for it. It's a 2 star. 2 .. it's cheap, and you get exactly what you pay for. Except this place has character and is lovely and chill. The beds are clean, Turkish so not squishy but clean. The shower, again, remarkably is Turkish! Clean but not something you'd expect in a UK hotel. The pool is fabulous, warm, clean, but yes it's dated, some tiles are cracked but it's fine. I spent all of today sleeping by the pool, listening to Billy ocean and Lionel Richie and reading maeve binchy. If you want party party party and fast running WiFi and cocktails, look elsewhere. If you want a chilled week, or two, at a fair price, with lovely people ( vedat the bar man is lovely) well then you can't go wrong. Both my friend and I are delighted.
