Was good location, walking distance from Porto center with rooftop bar and wonderful view.
Had good facilities (limited gym but could get hotel-arranged bikes) and the breakfast was very good.
Would for sure stay here again in the future.

The location of the hotel and the orientation of our room are very good. The staff are also very professional. You can reach most of the tourist areas on foot. You can experience many well-reviewed restaurants in the surrounding area. However, because the building itself is quite historical, the internal public area corridors are long and narrow. It is recommended to stay.

OK so we arrived very early and the whole of the front and one side of the hotel is surrounded by construction for the new metro. I really feel for the staff but they were handling it well. We did have to wait a long time to check in but that was because they wanted to give us a room away from the building work. The junior suite was great and the welcome was fab. Breakfast was stunning and the staff were adorable.

What could be better than staying in a new hotel with many services: breakfast, snack bar, gym, swimming pool and terrace. We were given two separate rooms for the three of us, and they were connected, which was very convenient. The front desk of the hotel is very friendly, speaks good English and is easy to communicate with. It’s just that the local taxi driver in Porto doesn’t seem to know the location of his home.

Reasonably priced hotel a short walk away from all the sights of Porto. No-frills but has everything you need - nice clean room, air conditioning, comfortable bed. A bottle of drinking water is refreshed every day which is very welcome. Breakfast plentiful and tasty. Staff were very busy as the hotel was full but everyone was very helpful and pleasant. A special thank you to Maria on the front desk who confirmed our taxi transfer to the airport and provided us with breakfast boxes for the journey because we left before the restaurant opened.
It was a stage for the world's nobles and aristocrats, a refuge for spies, politicians and exiles and a setting for artists, bohemians and intellectuals. Many were the personalities who associated their name or their stay in Porto with one of the city's oldest hotels. A hotel that doesn't stand still. In order to meet the needs of all its guests and provide them with the best stay, the Grande Hotel do Porto has been renovated, adapting to different requirements, always with the aim of offering all the comfort for those looking for charm in the center of Porto. More than a century after it opened, Porto's first "Grande Hotel" continues to make history, written every day with each guest who visits us and with all those who return to Porto. A stay at Grande Hotel do Porto places you in the heart of Porto, steps from Majestic Café and Bolhao Market. This eco-certified hotel is 1.3 mi (2 km) from Ribeira Square and 1.4 mi (2.3 km) from Porto Historic Center. The hotel location is very good. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The staff are really nice. The hotel 's decoration is grand. Breakfast and the food is good. Everything is above my expectations. Although the room is not large, it's clean and decent. We are happy to stay in this hotel and would like to recommend it to others.

About two months ago, I happened to see the promotional video of the hotel's opening, and then decided to walk around in Porto and booked this hotel specially. Our room is on the top floor. The balcony offers a beautiful view of Porto. The lighting design is relatively dark in the evening, which makes people very relaxing and sleepy. The bathroom accessories are great, and the towels seem to have a slight caramel smell. Full of comfortable experience. Will choose to stay in Porto next time.

Outstanding
Perfect location- just a few minutes to the river and a host of activity- easy walking around and finding several nice shops, bars and restaurants, all within an easy (ok sometimes uphill) walk around a beautiful city. Very nice hotel staff helped immensely with a bit of jet lag as well. Would stay here again for sure.
This is the BEST hostel I’ve stayed in, would honestly stay here over a Hilton. I booked a double private room with breakfast and was upgraded to a family room - despite not needing the extra bed, it was nice to have the extra space and not feeling cramped. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do anymore to assist me in anyway. There was an ample choice of options at breakfast, with the usual stuff found in a continental buffet. I must say the food was delicious! I also dined at the restaurant in the evening which was also delicious and VERY well priced - €12 for a meal and a drink! The room was very spacious, especially as I was a solo traveller. The bathroom was well maintained and the entire room was CLEAN! Along with very comfortable beds and passable pillows (but I am fussy with pillows). The location was perfect! Just 10-15 minutes from Sao Bento and around the corner from the river. I must say I did feel EXTREMELY SAFE both in the hotel and in Porto in general. Why would I stay here over a Hilton? For the price I paid, it was extremely well value and I must say I had a 5* experience here.
GGuest UserStayed here for 7 nights and was in 3 different rooms. Good News: Staff is great, especially Joanna and Marina (?) at front desk, and Paulo (?) and other bellman Overall decor is dated and needs refurbishing. Comments re: rooms… Room 234: Larger and very quiet with robe/slippers. Headboard is torn. Bathroom door in the way of toilet & bidet; need to close door to access. … Rm 232: Corner Suite. Beautiful but TOO NOISY. Despite wearing earplugs, closing double-paned windows + lowering electronic blackout shades outside bedroom window, still had trouble sleeping due to street noise (trucks, motorcycles, etc). Noise through evening and early morning hours when bins picked up. Windows need another layer to soundproof… Room 411: New side of hotel, VERY small room; no slippers/robe offered, better layout of bathroom. No view but very quiet. Bad news: For the amount charged per room (almost €200/night or more) + standard hotel tries to maintain, complimentary coffee and water should be available every day of stay, not just day #1. Beautiful view and good food from rooftop bar but VERY SLOW service. Tips: Location is by river so about 1-2 miles from city center which is uphill from hotel. Other option is to use Uber. Tram stop and supermarket conveniently located within 1-2 blocks of hotel. Can take tram toward Dom Luis Bridge to check out restaurants with great river views: Bacalhau (very small and don’t take reservations) or Vinhas d’Alho restaurant next door, takes reservations and has more outdoor seats. Overall: Wonderful, helpful and accommodating staff in lovely location but you could find better value other places, like the many ”AL” accommodations (private apartments similar to Airbnb).
MMaggieKieuSuper nice and cozy room, however its supposed to run as Airbnb not a Hotel, you wont get cleaning services during your stay, water for the first day even and the communication to access on checkin is troublesome-like airbnb.
- Checkin/out: They didnt send the checkin information in advance, and expecting you to write them an email to get it (when you dont expect to do so for a hotel-services) - same on checkout. Hope they received the email I sent via trip.com
- Room type: The room isn’t the same as in the room photo when you booked, its another one. The one we stayed has no sofa and balcony.
- No water even on the first day, cook yourself by using the kettle or drink from tap (which not recommended in portugal)
- Cleaning: The room is clean and niche, but dont expect any cleaning services during the whole stay.
- Noise from the street: mostly day and night as its in very central walking street.
GGuest UserOur family reserved 3 rooms and arrived on a very early flight . Jose was kind enough to get 1 of our rooms ready within an hour so we could at least wash up, rest for a bit, and refresh before going out for the day. He continued to take care of us throughout our stay with anything we needed, while being extremely kind and personal. He is an excellent representative of the quality and care the hotel offers. We also liked the ambiance of the hotel. It was nicely lit and decorated in a fun, eclectic, and relaxing fashion. Our room rate included the breakfast which was an amazing spread with much variety, highly recommend. Location was central, easy walking distance everywhere. Small disappoin**ent was lack of gym. I know we walk around alot but it would’ve nice to have the option as my husband and son like to exercise quite a bit. In addition, the TV lounge room which can be nice for teenagers/kids to use while waiting for our rooms to be ready was rather plain in terms of interior design, just gray concrete walls, as opposed to the interesting and colorful designs of the rest of the hotel. This is just an observation, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back again.
XXIAOYUANWhat a royal style! I really like the interior design and the elevator is so interesting! Great location, walking distance to main attractions. Breakfast is good too! There is a complimentary tasting of Porto grape liqueur at the front desk and a lounge with coffee and other refreshments.
AAnonymous UserThe whole city is relatively old, and the modern hotel is more prominent. It is relatively close to the train station, and it takes 12 minutes to walk. There are not many restaurants around, and there is a pizzeria next to it that tastes good. Overall, Portugal has the lowest consumption in Western Europe.
Lleahb19Having had to leave our previous 'hotel' as it was so horrendous we arrived here where we were greeted with very friendly staff and a warm lobby. They sorted us a room and must have given us a really nice room following our bad experience as we were on the 6th floor at the back with a lovely view of the city. The room itself was really quite large and the bed was extremely comfortable. We slept so well! There was a TV, free wifi, AC/heating and a really nice bathroom. The bar/room service menus were reasonably priced and the staff had great knowledge of the city. The hotel itself is about a 5/10 minute walk from the main station you arrive in to from the airport which was really handy for our early journey on our final day. Would stay here again if I went back to Porto!
RR_TWThe room is simple but the space is quite large, the location is a bit biased but it is a quiet area. There is a beautiful outdoor atrium, shared with the same brand hotel next door. When I checked in that day, I may just meet many people when I arrive at the same time. There is only one front desk brother service that tests everyone's patience. After all, even the Italians behind can't stand it (ha). Other words, there is a very warm little brother at breakfast who will greet you. The overall atmosphere is good. The people living here are quite special. Many retirees and many young people like backpackers.
GGuest UserI arrived at the hotel on 20 November 2022 for a 5 night stay. The stay was business related and with so many hotels to choose from, I decided to go with the Porto Palacio. What an excellent choice! The hotel is absolutely brilliant - I cannot find a fault. Check-in was very smooth and on arrival to the room - wow - very modern, crisp clean sheets on the bed and a spacious room. In terms of food, the Breakfast experience was the best part of the stay for me. I have stayed in many hotels around the world - both on a personal basis and a business basis - I can honestly say that the breakfast staff at the Porto Palacio are the best I've ever come across. On arrival, I was seated quickly. On Day 1, the staff members memorised what I had that cannot be chosen by the buffet - for example, a tea and two plates (as I like two plates) - on Days 2 and for the rest of the trip, I didn't even need to ask. I was called by my Title and Surname on arrival. The whole experience was brilliant. I would like to mention a lady called Rosa and another lady (they both greet staff members at the door) - their hospitality skills are great and they are always smiling - nothing is too much for them. I didn't eat at the restaurant in the evening but had room service as personally, I like to relax after a day at the office. The food was of good quality and was tasty and piping hot. I used the gym during my stay - the gym is open to members of the public, therefore is not your usual hotel gym. It's huge - there are loads of machines and I was never waiting for someone to finish using something. Staff members are friendly. All in all - a brilliant stay and is a genuine 5 star hotel! I will return to the Porto Palacio both on a business basis and also on a personal basis - Porto looks like a great city! It's a shame that I didn't have time to look around as I had a busy schedule but I will certainly be back! Thank you!!
