Kia Lodge

Very enjoyable brief stay. Comfortable rooms, good facilities (including a pool) and very convenient for the airport.

Nice lodge close to the Airport. All is basic but presents well. The staff is very nice and keeps the lodge in good shape. Its main advantage is that it is close to the airport, which is convenient when you arrive late at night from overseas and don’t want immediately to continue your journey on long bumpy roads.

This hotel was a great place to spend my first night in Tanzania and very convenient to the Kilimanjaro airport. The location is also scenic & peaceful, very different from typical airport area hotels in the US. The rooms are organized as individual lodges and are both comfortable and attractively appointed. The bed was so comfy that I overslept the next morning! Be sure you don't miss out on breakfast. It is expansive and delicious. The Lodge staff were friendly and attentive from start to finish. I'd stay there again tomorrow given the opportunity.

This was a perfect place to stay after a late flight. We were welcomed with cold water and comfort. Each cabin is nicely appointed with a shower and a luxurious bed with mosquito netting. The grounds are beautiful; lush trees and flowers, birds. Breakfast was fine -- everything you need to start your trip to the Serengeti.

Booked a room on the hotel official hotel website. Received an email confirming booking. Arrived and was told we had no room. Scrambled to find an alternative hotel. The worst travel experience I have ever had. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!

We as do many people, had early morning flight (eg Turkish Air is 2 am, Precision air is 6:50 am). KIA lodge is on the grounds of the airport so you avoid the long line to get into the airport, and KIA has beautiful grounds, a wonderful pool with view of Mnt Kilamanjaro and the food and service is great. Finally, through ***********, our cost at KIA was $US 130. Complementary breakfast and 3 min shuttle to airport

KIA Lodge was my last stop after three weeks in rural Tanzania volunteering with the Canadian community health NGO CACHA. Contrary to recent reviews, my stay was lovely. The location is surprisingly serene, despite being on the airport property. My room was comfortable and clean, with hot water and reasonably good shower pressure - things that were a treat at the end of my trip. Dinner is a four course, prix fixe menu with fish or meat selection. The breakfast was good, not amazing but a decent selection, especially the pastries. My only negative comment would be the pool, which looked like it had a layer of dirt on the bottom. Given that we are coming out of the dry season, this could be the reason. The price is high but you are at the airport. Think of what you'd pay to stay at an airport hotel vs the same chain if you were a few km away - same principle here. It's very convenient, and that comes with a price. It all depends on your perspective. After three weeks with intermittent electricity and cold water the KIA Lodge was a welcome treat. If you've been staying in five star safari lodges, this is not where you should stay.
