Hakuba West Coast Inn, Villa

This is a very traditional old Japanese house, and it's less than a 10-minute walk from the JR subway station. The house operates as a guesthouse, with shared bathroom facilities. Our room had a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains, which was absolutely stunning. Although some of the facilities are a bit old, it felt very cozy and welcoming. Breakfast was simple, just toast and coffee. If you're looking for a typical hotel experience, this might not be your first choice. However, if you want to experience traditional Japanese-style accommodation, this is a great option. Plus, the landlady is incredibly friendly, speaks excellent English, and is very engaging. I personally recommend it.

This guesthouse is a bit old, and the facilities are generally showing their age. The bathroom only has a shower, lacking the hot bath tub that many Japanese guesthouses provide 👎. The room space is small, giving a cramped feeling. Breakfast is self-service, but only consists of fruit, boiled eggs, and toast, which is quite simple. The room rate isn't cheaper than other guesthouses. The only advantage is its location, being close to the station.

Close to Hakuba Station. It's clean and has separate male and female restrooms. Breakfast is provided, and the staff are lovely.

The room facilities were basic and there was no trash can in the room, which was a bit disappointing. :(
