Hotel de Groene Hendrickx

The hotel is in the middle of everything. Rooms, food and breakfast are all very good. A married couple is responsible for the restaurant and reception. Very friendly people with a lovely daughter. I can recommend this hotel with a clear conscience.

Beautiful property, friendly staff and good breakfast. But terribly noisy until 1am with café guests, throwing and stomping on stairs. And again at 5:00 am from trucks. Stuffy room with no window to open. Not to be repeated.

We stayed in room 13, the room number gave it away. Room located on the 1st floor, windows over the entire length and width of the room. Unfortunately, there were no tinted windows or translucent curtains, so there was an immediate view of the room and the bed from the street and the restaurant opposite. Requested another room but the hotel was fully booked. The only option was to close the curtains and therefore the room was dark. Air conditioning did not work, after reporting a fan was replaced (and 2 welcome drinks for the inconvenience). Given the location close to restaurants and cafes, it was not possible to leave the windows open, which made it far too warm in the room. Inadequate lighting in the bathroom area. Nevertheless, the breakfast buffet made up for something. Very extensive choice, beautifully maintained, nice and cozy terrace.

Nice hotel, friendly staff and very tasty and extensive breakfast. However, a number of things can be improved. When booking a cycling package, safe storage for bicycles cannot be guaranteed. This is only possible if a specific bedroom is not in use. An alternative is the covered parking where the car can be parked for €14/day if the parking lot is not closed due to a move/work. Upon arrival, our 4 (electric) bicycles could be stored in a room that can be reached via a few stairs down and a few stairs up again. Not easy with heavy bicycles and certainly not for older or less mobile people. At the end of our weekend we received a tip from a friendly lady that we could also cycle through the restaurant without stairs. The cycling package also includes a welcome drink and a delicious 3-course dinner. The rooms are clean and nice but warm and not all have air conditioning. Our room without air conditioning had a fan but no windows that could be opened for some fresh air. Our friends' room had air conditioning but it did not work and in another room it only blew ice cold air. They each got a different room. The beds in these rooms are very low to the ground and are therefore not really suitable for an older or less mobile clientele. The staff, who have to manage both the hotel reception and the restaurant service, try to keep everything running smoothly and always with a smile. A few investments by the managers (also in additional staff) would not be an unnecessary luxury.
