Great little boutique lodge. Very comfortable rustic rooms. Quiet and serene surroundings. The dining room cuisine is 5 star dining for sure. If you have never stayed , you should make it a point to travel to this little gem just north of Minden

Sometimes less is more when it comes to a review. 10/10 will be going back again! The only critique I have is that I wish the caramel carrot cheesecake slice came with the rest of the cake (sorry Emma)!! This place is absolute perfection, every small detail did not go unnoticed! We appreciated every moment. Thank you!!

My wife and I spent two lovely days at Heather Lodge early in March, 2025. First impression: the friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Our accommodation was roomy, well appointed and very comfortable and the hot tub, outside our door, was especially welcome on the cold, snowy days. Finally, the food. We chose the meal plan and the four-course menu, changed daily, was extraordinary. While the atmosphere of the lodge is casual, the menu is haute. The plan included salad, appetizer, main dish and dessert, all changed each day. Main dishes included beef, pork, chicken, fish and vegetarian. Guests may bring their own wine. The style and substance of Chef James's food matched anything we have experienced in fine restaurants here at home and in Europe. The wild mushroom soup will be remembered for a long time. Heather Lodge is at the high end of the price scale but the food is off the scale. We've booked for next year!

From the moment we arrived at the lodge, we felt truly welcome. Warm greetings set the tone, followed by a quick tour that made us feel right at home. Our room, with its breathtaking view of the lake, was nothing short of perfect. The fireplace added a cozy, romantic touch—one we eagerly enjoyed both nights with the self-burning log, creating the ideal ambiance. The food? Absolutely astonishing. As someone with celiac and a dairy intolerance, I have never eaten so well in my life. The kitchen went above and beyond, not only ensuring my meals were safe but making them exceptionally delicious. I was stunned to find vegan margarine waiting for me at breakfast—such a thoughtful detail. And the desserts? Not just a fruit plate, but actual gluten- and dairy-free indulgences—something unheard of anywhere else. This experience left us feeling relaxed, pampered, and truly refreshed. Thank you for the precious memories—we can’t wait to return!

Beds and pillows are extremely comfy. Nice big room with a vlacony and view. The fireplace was wonderful and they supply you with a log. The food was incredible. Had a hard time with the Nesspresso machine but that was me. Bring extra. Fridge and kettle was nice to have.

We traveled to Heather Lodge with an another couple who are great friends. They put us in rooms 9 & 10 which had a lovely outside covered porch area so we could sit out and chat anytime. The breakfasts and dinners were all outstanding, large portions and delicious fresh choices. Most notably was the service- a rare find in most establishments. The owners and the wait staff were exceptionally polite and attentive and we felt very well taken care of. As parents of many teenagers, we all relaxed and felt pampered in this beautiful setting. We loved it so much, we have reserved for next summer.

Within 24 hours of arrival, we knew we wanted to come back in 2025. Join all the other reviewers in raving about the food, the lodge and the staff. Special thanks to Evan who crawled under the lakeside deck to retrieve our keyboard. I'm not a strong swimmer but with the help of noodles and a very accessible ladder, I was able to enjoy the unseasonably warm water of Twelve Mile Lake. Our patio doors included one with a screen, so we turned off the A/C and enjoyed fresh air all night (too noisy in downtown Toronto to do this). The Lodge is right on Hwy 35 which can be noisy with trucks during the day, but was fine at night. The beef tenderloin was the best I can remember ever having while my husband discovered vegan bratwurst for breakfast. He was disappointed not to get pickerel though. Maybe next year... we are already booked. Thanks Maria and all your staff.

Heather Lodge is a nice place to stay. The menus are great and the food is absolutely excellent. The chefs do their best to accommodate dietary restrictions. We enjoyed eating out on the deck and watching the birds at the various bird feeders. The rooms are very comfortable and the location is pretty quiet. The grounds are nicely maintained and the lake is clean. I have recommended it to many of my friends and family and try to go back each year.
