Wool Merchant Hotel Halifax

I don't understand where the hotel is three stars because it was very disappointing the linoleum at the reception the rooms very disgusting dirty painted broken the water in the bathtub doesn't flow the duvet is short

Good location, near the station and Piece Hall. Easy check in. Nice bright room but the mattresses left a lot to be desired with exposed springs and obviously very old

This hotel is in a great location for The Piece Hall and centre of Halifax. Parking only £3 for 24 hours in the car park next to the hotel. It is in need of some significant refurbishment and upgrading but was good value considering the room rate. The staff were friendly and a basic breakfast is included in the price. It's good for anyone looking for a basic room on a budget when visiting Halifax but don't expect Travelodge or Premier Inn standards for the price.

Before I say anything, the lovely man at the reception was outstanding, polite and willing to help. This comment is about the management of the hotel. I booked through trip and paid in advance but they did not have this information upon arrival. There was an invoice for £40 whereas I had paid £50 through Trip. The man at receiption quickly waved the new invoice. The hotel is very run down. The room was in an apalling state. Although the bedsheets and towels were clean the overall state of the room was awful. The drains were clocked, the shower screen broken, there were stains everywhere. I understand it’s a very cheap hotel but there should be a minimum of respect to the customers. There was free breakfast which was okay. Some of the other customers were quite loud and roudy.

Booked a double bed with en-suite received two single beds. Hotel informed me it was expedias fault. Kettle there no base no plugs visible.

With the hotel only being open for a week things were a bit haphazard, TV was broken,(was replaced) shower tray wouldn’t empty, single sink tap stuck on boiling some dubious people wondering around and on going out we where on the 5th floor and when lift door opened the check in girl had a big Bearly Yorkshire Police officer each side of her.

Everything was so bad ,from staff to amenities!

Reasonable hotel for the price. Large room.

Halifax is a beautiful place to visit
